strategy
APC has Many variants here in india out of which 550 and 650 VA are readily available( 550 ..2K, 650..3K) IF you just want to connect the cpu and the Monitor ( considering its less than 24" LCD/ 19" CRT) ...you are well to go with 650 VA one ...but if you are connecting the speackers as well( ....i donno why ?...) you will need more. above 650 APC offers 750 VA ups but these are very costly....around 6.5K...! Hope it helps!
IndianGamer
Microtek customer care sucks though.. i bought the same model and it was a dud.. PS3 always used to turn off.. and it took me around 150 calls and mails to even their country sales manager and around 2 months to get it fixed finally.. They can't even provide proper support until you show them some money.

L33TWiZaRd
Dude just go for the double battery 800va UPS from Microtek. At around 2500 they are cheap and comes with 2 years warranty.
strategy
I have a quary.... My laptop( Ferrari 4002 WLMi) came with 80 GB 5.4K rpm HDD ( IDE) ...Now i dont need much HDD space cause i dont game on it ....but the HDD is now giving me problems..... the startup is slow .....explorer is slow.....File transfer is slow. I have 1 GB Ram On XP so i guess HDD is they only cause. Now i want to change my HDD ...the max i can get is 160 GB ( and that too 5.4K rpm......can some one get me 7.2k ONE pm ME!!) . BUT the problem is i dont want to loose the recovery partition that the current HDD has ...... My HDD came with the following Partitions: .......35.5GB ........35.9GB ........2.9GB( that is Hidden away) and stores the recovery data I really like the 15 minute windows reinstall ....i could really format and reinstall in 15 minutes!!.....and yeah they game me CDs but cant keep the CDs with me all the time. so is there a way to make a partition of GB and hide it away and use it to the restore it to factory default using this partition! AtheK
factory settings will always restore it back to original settings, why don't you backup data on an external HDD and then do a clean format, your issue is not due to your hard drive but due to the junk installed in windows.. strategy
My data on the windows partition is not important ........ the laptop is 3 years old.....first 2 years i had to restore it only once ....and it was fine after that .... but now whenever i restore its slow from the start......i asked the dealer at nehru place ....he said it may be cause of the HDD ( he said reformatting HDD many times can mke it slow!!) Shantz
^^ have you looked at perfmon? Start perfmon and then do any of the activities you mentioned (like file transfer etc), you will come to know what is the real bottleneck..
Right
Guys, can you suggest me a good AGP card, preferably in series 7 or 8(not sure if they did AGP in 8) and with a price tag of <6000? My ancient 6600GT is conked and I am really not in mood of upgrading the whole system just for that, given the facts that I already have a laptop and a macbook and I really don't use PC for gaming much. Thanks.
Right
OMG. Someone is still making AGP cards. http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/p...00101&gid=4 But it's ATI based and not sure if it's gonna fit in my ATX Any suggestions guys? Aftrunner
I dont think you are going to find a decent AGP card in the market locally nowadays. At least not one that would be a decent improvement on the 6600. I couldnt find one in Nehru place when i was looking for a friend. If you are lucky you can get your hands on a 7600GT but thats hardly worth the money you will spend. My advice is to save up some money and change the mobo and GPU in one go. You could get a decent combo in about 6-7k.
Right
I know what you mean Afty But if I don't find that Sapphire card, I gotta buy: 1. Mobo 2. CPU (I have socket 754) 3. GPU 4. RAM (I have DDR1, which may or may not run on new Mobos but surely will be a bottleneck) 5. Power Supply (I have Antec 400W, I may have to switch for something like 500-550 I guess) So it will be as good as buying a new comp. It's scary
a5hr1th
I used to have an XFX 6800 GT AGP top-of-the-f**kin-line graphics card. I got it just when they released it. Damages, back then: 31k Though, I can suggest you a new, decently powerful config for 15k, its your choice all the way Motherboard - Intel DG31PR = 3k Processor - Intel E7200 C2D - 6k GFX Card - Palit 9500GT 512MB - 3.5k RAM - 4GB Transcend - 3k PSU - You don't really need a new one, 400 W is just hell lotta sh*t And that too Antec ! TOTAL - 15.5k You can reduce on the RAM and the processor if you want to. This setup can even run a copy of Leopard smoothly

Right
Thanks a5hr1th. That config is decent, in deed. If this Sapphire thing doesn't work out I will go for that. Thanks
