ЯeVeЯse
I'd take a P35 based motherboard anyday over a 780i, cheaper too. I personally don't have brand preference, but I'd take the HD 4850 over the 8800GT atm, definitely. 8800GT seems like a moot point to me, just my opinion though. Don Karnage
^ IMO there's no need to go for Corsair RAM as well, its no good price/performance wise.
ЯeVeЯse
G.Skill is available here, right? I'd take that over it, I have come across many reviews which have said really positive things about it.
MarketTantrik
Drop the 780i, its the worst chipset on earth. Get either the Abit IP35- Pro, or the eVGA 750i SLI 4TW! Tell me about it. Took me a week to get my system running nice and stable.
ЯeVeЯse
EVGA certainly know how to appeal to the 'elite' market by using one of the internet's dearest acronyms. Edit: I didn't visit any tech news/rumors sites over the past few days, and I've just come to know that the HD 4870 X2 may contain 2GB of video memory. Is this confirmed or what? AtheK
@Helios -- Liteon or Sony both perform at par and there is hardly any price difference so yes personal prefernces ah the PS3 its eating into my judgement Motherboard will depend on the video card you decide i say EVGA Because of SLI but if you want to do Crossfire by all means yes please put intell board but the price difference between 8800 GT(10500) and 4850(13500) will be 3k which gets the price to the same level. Ram yes 4GB if you want but to start up with atleast you plan to run X64 its no use and we would def like to keep the system below 50k. Next upgrade why not. In fact if you decide to go 8800 GT you save 1500 in the above config and use it for a cpu cooler and bigger HDD as Aditya mentioned(we still had a 950 rupees buffer there) @aditya -- 750i is no where close to 780i in performance and overclocking and saying that 780i chipset is the worst must have some reason but sorry i dont believe in that statement.. MT you have been running the chipset now i know it took you time to make it stable but post your impression about the board we would love to hear it. HD4850 if intel board 8800 GT if SLI Board(new one sells for 150$ in US now so SLI in 6k that is real real fast) again personal choice depending on the board you opted. Hard drive def bigger capacity why not. Ram i have opted for corsair cos i had corsair and i am now running patriot(presumably much better) but have had issues and had to have it exchanged it once so i put in Corsair...OCZ is also decent...G skill is ok but i think corsair is better then Gskill. In the end of the day the above system is just a refrence system what you can get in the money you are about to spend and def there should be some tweaks when buying it
m-JeRi
no no no...u aint going fast.... explain this... MarketTantrik
MT you have been running the chipset now i know it took you time to make it stable but post your impression about the board we would love to hear it. Yeah ! I took me a while to iron out the issues with RAM and SLI stability. Firstly a quick recap of my config eVGA 780i SLI MoBo C2D E6600 (2.4 GHz, 4 MB L2) 2.5 GB Corsair RAM (I have another 512 MB stick, but slotting that in freezes the MoBo). 2 x 8800GT 512 MB (eVGA KO editions) Audigy 4 sound card 2 x 320GB WD Caviar HDDs in RAID 0 (striped) 1 x 160 GB Seagate HDD 1 x 80 GB Seagate HDD Corsair 1000 W SMPS (SLI ready) The MoBo finally runs stable now with only the occasional lock-up if I keep it running for days without a reboot. I havent updated the firmware yet and the latest one promises freedom from some of the issues I had been facing. Honestly? This board is a monster and is wickedly fast. Plus, it has 3 x16 PCI-E 2.0 slots. So I can slot in a third 8800GT (yeah, you read that right) and in that configuration, it mightily beats out even the 9800 GTX and 9800GX2 in many games. ЯeVeЯse
I wouldn't honestly even be looking for SLI or CrossFire as a deciding factor in my motherboard purchase, well maybe I would, but it would totally depend on the size of the display. Would a 22" widescreen really need 2x 8800GT's or 2x HD 4850s? And I'm still sort of skeptical with regards to the whole multi GPU hooplah, I would take a single fast card anyday. But again, this is all just me. Patriot seems good, but every website I've visited seems to hold names like Crucial, G.Skill and Mushkin in high regard. However, personal experience speaks a lot louder than 100 reviews. MT, I do not think the 8800GT can do Tri-SLI, I might be wrong though. I'm certain the 9800GTX is capable of this, however. AtheK
Yes MT untitled is correct tri sli is supported only with 9800GTX or GTX 2xx series
MarketTantrik
^^ My mistake, I recalled an article I had read on a 8800 GTX tri-SLI setup and mistook it for the 8800GT A bloke here has a tri-SLI 8800 GTX setup http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/248586-3...ld-pics-warning And Hothardware has a Tri-SLI preview running on 3 8800 Ultras http://hothardware.com/Articles/NVIDIA_3Wa...rmance_Preview/ So its not just restricted to the 98xx and 2xx series. AtheK
^^ Cool mmy bad i missed 8800 GTX it was the only card avbl when they launched 780i or was 9800 GTX released(i dont think so) and aditya why i asked MT to buy 780i you can read the history here... http://www.IndianVideoGamer.com/forums/index.php...500&st=2460 And by the looks of it Vik seems to be pretty happy with his purchase
MarketTantrik
And by the looks of it Vik seems to be pretty happy with his purchase I was, till I read the the performance numbers of the RV770 and the specs of the X48 chipset. Then I checked the prices :cry5: :cry5: But still, I'm quite happy with my purchase. At least, I can slot in two of nVidia's next "latest & greatest" without a hitch. Don Karnage
^ Or you could upgrade to the X58 (& Nehalem) and get stability as well as SLI/XFire options (hopefully) - Source.
MarketTantrik
^^ No way I'm splurging out for another upgrade for at least 12 months.

Don Karnage
Yeah the X48 just seems like a transition, X58 should be the real platform upgrade. ^^ No way I'm splurging out for another upgrade for at least 12 months.
