Ok....i got my hands on a cheap 8800GT, and thought i would replace my sorry a*$ 9600GT.....

However, plugging it in boots up the system fine, but the monitor is not getting any signals :good: It works fine with 9600GT though..

Here are the details:

C2Q Q8400

4GB ram

Coolermaster Extreme power plus 600W :fear:

kindly suggest a remedy :|

I am still not able to solve the above problem. I upgraded the power supply as well; but it has done no good. It does have direct PSU connectors for the gfx card though.

Any help would be appreciated :(

Aight people, need to build a PC for a friend. His requirements are:

1. Will be running basic photoshop, word processing, and surfing.

2. Needs to power a 27" BenQ M2700HD monitor.

3. Budget to 10-12K just for the cabinet no keyboard or mouse required.

Was thinking something AMD with 2GB of DDR2 given his lack of budget. Any ideas on how to spec this out?

Let's see.

AMD Athlon X2 II 240 ~ 2.9k

2 GB DDR2/2 GB DDR3 ~ 2.2k/2.8k

Cabinet ~ 1k

DVD RW ~ 1k

320GB/500 GB HDD ~ 1.6k/2.1k

Total ranges from 8.7k - 9.8k... Leaves us with ~ 3k for the MB, so will definitely need an onboard GPU.

Edit: Saw the TE PC buying guide. Prices more or less the same. Look out for Biostar MBs with onboard HD3000 / HD3300 .. They go cheaper than the Gigabyte, Asus etc.

Whats generally a good software to convert files from Divx/RMVB/etc to Ipod touch format?

Need something that is fast and wont balloon the video up in size.

Videora iPod touch Converter. That's what I have been using since I got my Touch. It's simple enough to convert and supports batch conversion. Although, I'm sure how many format it supports as I mostly convert XviD files.

Air video ; start the server on your computer, and add the folders. Go to your iPod, log in and browse and convert. Don't forget to change the quality to 55% on the iPod. It might seem like a hassle, but it's the easiest way, no settings to mess around with etc, and supports all formats and codecs.. You can even queue up the videos, how many ever. The end video will be in the same folder as the original video. It also takes the least amount of time( dependent on the CPU).

If you want control over the settings etc, Handbrake also does a great job, but takes more time. But for Handbrake, everything is done on the computer.

Note : there seems to be some problem converting RMVB files, when they are multichannel especially.

@dante..

Ohhh... didnt post it here right...

Until last week.. the pc was working fine...

the only culprit i found was the electricity itself. folks on E also concur the theory. coz almost all diagnostics came back negative. :(.

Well i just moved to a new home..and slowly unpacking... by next week i will confirm this.
