Bulovski
Okies need some help. I have got SIPE on Pidgin but can't login to my Office Communicator. What else could I be missing? Next - How good / bad is Evolution client? I want to configure my office mail there and it's not getting configured. Office mail is on Exchange. Installed wine - now going to install steam. If I have games on steam already in steamapps (in windows) can i just copy the folder over and play it?
Death Stryke
^Why do u want to jump through all these hoops? Why dont u just install Win 7 premium :-/. Honest question seriously. Edited October 26, 2010 by Death Stryke
Aftrunner
Or better yet dual boot if you really need the Linux Distro. Running Steam through Wine seems really pointless.
Bulovski
Because I can @DS - I have win 7 Ultimate btw. This is so I can make Ubuntu the main OS on the office laptop (which has winXP) - I need email and Office Communicator running through ubuntu and i shall be all set. Aftrunner
LOL have fun. I give it about 2 days before you realize Wine is no substitute for a windows installation when it comes to gaming.
Bulovski
Yup am not going to use the office laptop for gaming. I thought I could run Live Communicator through wine. If I have the office mail and communicator running i am all set to boot into ubuntu in my office laptop. For gaming I am going to stick with Win 7 / DX 11 thankuverymuch. Aftrunner
Oh sh*t. sh*t sh*t sh*t sh*t sh*t. I think I just blew out my PC's PSU. Its not booting up at all. Nothing happens when I press the power on button. I have checked the wiring and its all connected properly. At least from what I can make out. Is there anything else I can check for? HALP! Bird Bird Bird
Not lights on the mobo. :| Uh-oh ! That doesn't sound too good. Stop fiddling yourself & get it checked by a trained person asap.
Aftrunner
I dont smell anything but I think the PSU is the only explanation fits. I have done all the reseating and refitting crap. I honestly cant think of anything. Only other thing that could be faulty is the cable connecting the PSU to my UPS. f**k. I really hope its the cable. I dont want to buy a new PSU, I was holding that off until I built a totally new rig. Prathap
@Aftrunner.. try connecting your comp direct. ie.. without your UPS. it might be your UPS which has problem.. had happened to my friend once..
Solitaire
@Afty , did you try connecting the green cable’s terminal in the ATX connector with one of the black cables’ terminals in the ATX connector using some sort of sturdy wire and switching the PSU alone on? doesn’t matter which black cable's pin you use, as all of them are ground, just make sure you have connected the green wire's pin to a black wire's pin. Do remember to disconnect all other connections to the PSU except the mains supply before trying. If it does turn like this without the motherboard, then maybe the problem is with your motherboard. If it doesn't then the PSU has an issue too. If you want a more detailed guide to powering up the PSU without a motherboard. - http://modtown.co.uk/mt/article2.php?id=psumod
Aftrunner
I'd rather not do that. I have no idea what I am doing and I might end up making it worse. Far easier just to take my PSU over to a friends and have him shove it in his PC. I need to take my HDD to his place anyway to get some data off it.
