Turd Turd Turd
^^ Already tried Speedtest. It shows 2 MbPS. :| And it's a RJ45 connection linked to a router. Something like cable net (?). No phone needed. Plus using a Belkin router (TP Link was there when I was using BSNL @ home). It doesn't show connected anywhere. Also the connection is MAC-locked to my lappy's address. Infact I had to change the router's MAC to the lappy's MAC to get it to work with the PPPoE connection. Now max anybody can do is steal my Wi-fi, but it's kinda impossible as it's encrypted with WPA2 key which came with the router (8 digit random characters key). Sackboy
If speediest shows 2MBPS then the problem is on your side It's RJ45 means that it's a direct Ethernet connection right ? Mine is RJ11 ,,,, I always wondered wether net worked if directly connected to RJ45

Turd Turd Turd
Hey guys, Need some advice on general use laptop/MP3 speakers. Was thinking of getting a 2.1 before but the recent portable ones caught my eye, specifically the X-Mini II & Altech Lansing iM227/237. Now the catch is I can buy only from Letsbuy (have a 1000 rs coupon which I want to use). So which one's a better buy ? Also googling gives lots of results for iM237 (unavailable @ Letsbuy) but virtually no reviews for iM227 (which are available @ Letsbuy !). Kinda confused regarding the difference between the 2. Plus iM227 or X-Mini II ? Usage will primarily be for music and movies, f/b podcasts. Thanks.

They are fine if your laptop speakers are crappy and you want them on the move but they will definitely not replace even a cheap 2.1 set in sound quality. Heard they are the better ones among X-Mini. Good VFM for 1.5k ?
Shantz
Oi ! How are X-Mini Max II ? Heard they are the better ones among X-Mini. Good VFM for 1.5k ? Out of all, I like max II and Happy. They are pretty good as far as sound quality can be expected from such tiny speakers. Good for a small room without too much ambient noise. Happy has slightly better bass but it is mono (but has added advantage of sd card slot with which you can use it as a standalone mp3 player). What is your usage going to be like? Edit: btw, you can check this review of x-mini happy speakers that I did some time back http://tech.shantanugoel.com/2010/11/28/review-of-x-mini-capsule-happy-speakers.html Edited April 14, 2011 by Shantz

But as stated before, I'll be buying only from Letsbuy (will be using a 1000 Rs voucher). And they are carrying X-Mini 1.1, II & Max II. Apart from X-Mini, Altec Lansing iM227. So need to choose between them. Had they been carrying iM237, would have bought it eyes closed but damn iM227 .. There's no info about it anywhere ! Isn't Max II supposed to be better because of the whole dual speakers stereo thing ? Also read about people complaining on Amazon that one of the 2 speakers in Max II goes dud after a couple of months or so !

Another benefit is that they have internal battery and can be charged over USB, so no worries about fiddling around with cells or anything. About speaker going bad, I have had them for around 5-6 months and so far no issues.
