playstationdude
Hey guys i had bought a Seagate home theater plus media player in November last year(in warranty).More than a month back it went kaput and i had given it to the service center(Accel frontline services limited in Nehru place). Its been more than a month now yet they have not replaced it citing unavailable stock despite my repeated messages to Seagate. What should i do now?

rahul
Is this even normal? 4 year old Dell laptop btw.. Shuts down every four hours of browsing.
landmarktiger
Is this even normal? 4 year old Dell laptop btw.. Shuts down every four hours of browsing. yeah that is common with laptops that get old - open it up and get a can of air to blow all the dust out - i bet the dust is completely blocking all the heat sinks and the exhaust fans/vents. Also change the thermal paste if you can in both the cpu and the gpu- this should fix the temps. Get a cooling pad for the laptop also if you have the budget for it
Sackboy
Yes it's normal and no it's not good . I would have told you what to do but landmark tiger has already done that I see
Pushy
put a quality Thermal Paste on the chips, either AS5 or MX-2.
Sackboy
Tuniq TX 3 is the way to go for thermal paste
rahul
Couldn't find any sort of blockage in the vents. And the fan seems pretty intact. I'm guessing the thermal compound has lost it's effectiveness.. either way, just wanted to know if it was normal. Will be assembling a BF3 rig in a month, so just have to bear with this till then. Thanks for the inputs guys..
piper
Will be assembling a BF3 rig in a month, so just have to bear with this till then. Neat. Hoping to soon see you in this thread regularly, discussing your new rig setup then . @Sacky : I've got an X2 240, 4GB 1333MHz, and 1GB HD4670. What res can I run BF3 at? I know official requirements are not listed, but I can play both MW2 and BFBC2 at 1080p, so... @Pushy : Keep your card out of this, like a boss. Sackboy
The minimum requirements of alpha required quad core 2GHz+ I suspect the final game will have more , your rig might just be able to cut it but at 1080p , I don't think so
landmarktiger
i wonder what current gen gpu will run this game at 1080p at maxed settings with 40+fps (without forced anti ailiasing or AF) since new gen gpus wont come out till early next year iirc - i think will need a min 6970 or a
