Thanks, gramps. Even I'm intending to do a full wipe. Just finished backing up the last bit of data today.

Also, for warranty do I need the original bill or something? Or do the guys at the Seagate service center consider the warranty from the serial number itself. I'll have to search for the bill, that's why...

I just RMA'd my HDD a couple of weeks back.

Here's what you've got to do: Go to the Seagate website. Enter your serial number. It'll tell you whether your hard disk is still covered by warranty (which it should be). And then it'll ask you to download the Seagate diagnostic tool. Download it and let it run. It'll give you a feedback code. Using that code, apply for the RMA, print it, and courier the HDD (or you can directly drop it for RMA; whichever is preferable) to the address mentioned over there. In my case the HDD was completely out cold. So, I used one of the codes mentioned in the site for a dead HDD (which can't run the diagnostic tool :P ).

It should reach you within a couple of weeks max. Hope this helps.

So finally I have saved up some cash to fix(read over haul) my PC. Its been a long time since I upgraded my PC I guess I will be needing a

CPU, some ram and some awesome sauce gfx card The HDD an the SMPS are probably the only thing I wont be throwing out ( 1.5 TB HDD and a 600 W Coolermaster SMPS). Problem is I have about 30 k to spare for the same. Could anyone please help me out? I have been out of the market long enough to make an informed choice

Get

i5 2400 -10200

Intel DH67CL -5500

Corsair 4x2 GB 1333MHz RAM - 2600

And wait for a good 7xxx series card in your range , should be out soon

Noob question (damn you consoles for making me one)

Can it run Crysis Battlefield 3 on ultra?

Also I had a 4850 which had heating issues (to put it mildly) also Geforce has Physx. I am on a fix I guess.

the 4850 was a beast in its time no doubt. However The heating is something that concerns me. Do them AMD card still heat up the place ?

Also are you talking about this board? How are the GSkill RAMs? Appreciate the help. and also 4X2 GB is equivalent to 2 rams of 4 GB each right?

Ultra is possible at around 40 FPSish but explosions will slow it down so high would be recommended but yes it can do it ...

Yes i mean that board , GSkill is good but save money on the ram and go for 1333MHz one as this board does not support 1600MHz one

that link give 2 chips of 2 GB 1600 MHz , I meant 2 chips of 4 GB 1333MHz but the board has 4 slots so you can also get 4 chips ..

hey guys,

finally I have decided to upgrade my PC..will be used primarily for gaming and watching movies..

my budget is around 45k-50k..can even go to 60K if the extra price can justify another year of life..

things that I require : Mobo, processor, graphics card, hard drive, RAM, cabinet, power supply, optical drive and monitor

what I have in mind:

I would like to go for Inter processor probably i52500..as I belive i7 does not have much adv over it in terms of gaming

I am also not a keen overclocker..I usually run at stock values untill unless it's really required..

And for GFX card I will prefer NVidia for Physx..

monitor probably 21-22 inch and I would like to game in 1900*1600

please advise :)

Been a while since I posted in here but does anyone if there is a local retailer in India that carries a Samsung 830 series SSD or an Intel 320 series SSD? I am looking at the 128GB mark but even a 256GB is within the budget. I know I can get it online and have it shipped to me but I'd rather know if anyone in India is selling it.

P.S. The reason for getting those two is because of the slim height factor as this is going into an Ultrabook (7mm). I am not looking for space as I have another server hosting everything I need and I don't want a regular HDD option either.
