From my experience the most sturdy laptops are the business line of laptops from HP / Dell / Lenovo.

That said, my recommendation is that you are better off waiting for a month because both Intel and AMD have released their next gen chips and they will soon start showing up (infact many laptops with the new intel ivy bridge chips have been announced).

If you want to have decent gaming and decent cpu performance AMD Trinity chips seem most promising. Intel has better cpu performance and battery life. Just wait for a couple of weeks and then you will have a lot of choices.

thats the things i have to buy the laptop in the next week as i would be leaving delhi then, by the way http://www.flipkart.com/hp-pavilion-dv6-7010tx-laptop-3rd-gen-i7-6gb-640gb-2gb-graphics-win-7-beats-audio-sennheiser-headphone/p/itmd8cejzmc4gzrh?pid=COMD8CEGZYQHSVHX&_l=eph9XOVkNE+UbP2kwKaKeA--&_r=Irs_b7zfXWnuuEOD_PbUOw--&ref=18ba536c-a6fe-43be-b4bb-95f4adc5f30d

i think has 3 rg ivy bridge, correct me if i am wrong

Ok, got my PSU replaced by Corsair, have to say they have amazing service, they promised it in 5 days and bam, on the 5th day it was delivered right to my home,

also i got to mention that my old PSU was a corsair CX500 V1 and the replacement they have sent is V2 which is 80+ certified, really hats off to them :majesty:

another thing, i have applied a new thermal paste, so am just testing the temps right now, i dont remember my temps before and the normal temps for my cpu, so need a little help here,

I have a I5-2400, Stock Intel Cooler, Room Temp-32C

Using Real Temp

CPU IDLE- 38-40C

CPU FULL LOAD- 72-75C, MAX-78C

are the temps fine??

temps are sh*t, my Quad Core(Q6600) hovers around 55-60 on load, you should re-apply the thermal paste most prolly or get the heat sink changed

my max temp shown by real temp is at about 98

so at 75 it still shows a good 20c+ to max temp,

now I am. getting really tensed and confused, some tell it is fine, some say not. :fear:

72-75 on max load is bad but nothing that will f**k up your pc , as I said 80+ means you should worry

Checked official specs , Tcase for 2400 is 72C so you should be worried a bit ...

For q6600 is 64C as far as I could find :|

yeah, I read that too at their site, tcase means the max temp?

Yeah, nice find pushy. You made some mistake while applying the thermal paste. But the stock cooler even on load should be enough to keep temperature below 72 for 2400.

How is your case irock? Install some fans and ensure proper ventillation. Also do proper cable management.

Thanks a lot pushy bro,

now here is a new twist in the story, today i decided to use a different software, HWMonitor

Here are the readings it cave me,

CPU

At Idle- 40C Max-45C

At Full Load- 51C Max-56C

GPU

At Idle- 41C Max-43

At Full Load- 58C Max-62C

Motherboard Min-31C Max-39C

HDD Min-30C Max-34C

Now these readings are quite different from Real Temp, are these temps normal??

i have tried to keep my case good ventilated,

i have 3 82mm fans on the side pushing air out and 1 82mm at the rear pushing out

also one more thing, dose sharing of 1 4-pin peripheral by 2 fans make them slower??

i have 2 of the fans connected to their individual peripheral from the psu and the other 2 form a series and share 1 peripheral from the psu, i feel that those 2 fans which are sharing power are running slower then they should, is there any logic in that?
