MarketTantrik
having a problem with my PC and i was wondering if yall could figure out what the cause of it is my PC randomly starts freezing.....sometimes it happens twice in an hour and sometimes it will run all day without freezing, but the freezing is quite frequent and it happens in one of two ways 1. there is a click sound from the cabinet like someone flipped a switch following which the screen freezes and mouse and keyboard become unresponsive...have to reboot from the cabinet 2. there is a similar click sound, but this time in my speakers/headphones following which the screen goes black (it goes off as if its not receiving a signal) and the cabinet looks and sounds like its reebooting....ROM drive lights start flashing like it does when you reboot....but the screen remains black and again i have to reboot from the cabinet i recently bought a new graphics card - geforce 6200 AGP card....i had some problems with the driver that i got off the nvidia site so i'm currently on the default display driver that windows installed....could that be the issue? Have your problems started only after installing the new gfx card? If so thats one potential problem. The clicking sound could be coming from the HDD, signalling an impending failure. But given the hanging, its more likely to be an overheating component, either the processor or its fan, the bridge fans / coolers, or the gfx card. Pushy
a 450W shud suffice for u Push.....even if u will be getting 8800GTX. thanks mates. BTW in what condition are teh SMPS above 450W is required? @ chaoster, nope mates, my budget is flexible, can go upto 5K. (but i am also saving for teh GFX card, so lower teh SMPS cost, the better ) @ Uncle Sam, when i brought me PC, someone was buying iBall Lappy @ 25/26 K(dun remember) BTW even u can buy ACER basic lappy's around 25K iGuess. MarketTantrik
but the PC even hangs when its idlepeace I still suspect a MoBo component. Maybe the North / South bridge. Also check if the power cables for the processor are too close to the proc fan.

Imrahn
^^ if u are gonna SLI/CF, gonna add 3 or above HDD's, multiple Optical driver etc, u shud think of getting ur PSU to 650+... PS: (but i am also saving for teh GFX card, so lower teh SMPS cost, the better ) from that, it seems ur underestimating the importance of an SMPS in a configuration.Just be aware that an SMPS with cheap components may/can take down ANY other component(s) in the configuration. So, investing in a good powerful SMPS(750W +) now can prevent u from worrying abt its upgradation for the next 3 or 4 years. Imrahn, check teh zebronics link iHas given, u see teh wordings written in front of teh cabinet, well in teh same line back of it(iMean rear of cabinet) has teh SMPS aKa teh top place. do u get me? also i read in CHIP forus that Corsair SMPS r reliable than CM? Imrahn
lol, that was what i was also saying, even though i have the PSU at bottom, the fan opening is closed by the graphics card - in the above pic, its closed by the cabby top.So, i dunno if it will pose a prob or not. pixeljunkie
Uncle Sam, me facing same issue here, frequent restarts or restart after long hours, it's SMPS problem dude,U and ineedZ to change teh SMPS to solve teh problame.if u has warranty left on ur SMPS, tell teh beetches that "SMPS won't take load", then they will either replace it or repair it. or if u r out of warranty, buy a new one, a good one(Coolermaster recommended coz even me going after it) here http://theitwares.com/smps/smps.htm iGoes for 600W one or if iMom agrees to shell out more, then iGoes phor corsair 650W. btw i dunno how much i should go phor, in future iWill buy 8800 GTX so which one u guys recommend? me rig: CPU Type QuadCore Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2400 MHz (9 x 267) Motherboard Name Intel Pearl Creek DG31PR (2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 2 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Video, Gigabit LAN) System Memory 2044 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM) Video Adapter ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO (512 MB) Disk Drive WDC WD2500AAJS-00VTA0 (232 GB, IDE) Optical Drive LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S with the 8800GTX upgrade i'd suggest the corsair TX650W(NON-MOD) or HX620W(MOD) keep in mind the corsair PSU's are future proof(SLI) and so the extra dough is worth it but if price is an issue then get this combo 8800GTS 512(single only) + POV BD 500W/650W (instead of a 8800GTX) DO NOT ATTEMPT to run an 8800GTX(single only possible) or any CF/SLI setup on the POV BD 500W/650W PSU's as they have only a single Y 6-pin cable even though the amps on the 12V rails exceed 30.....the trick is to use 2 seperate 6-pin cables....2x8-pin(2+6) cables which is standard with the HX620/TX650 also can someone recommend a laptop for less than 25k? All it needs to run is MS Officepeace get yourself an ASUS EEE PC 4G for 13k Edited August 23, 2008 by pixeljunkie
