Aftrunner
Well, installing games to a SSD is out of the question. At any given time I have at least 80+ Gigs just on Steam and then there are non steam games. Would using it as a cache drive really be worth anything if you already have 16-32 GB or Ram? I think I will pass on it.
piper
I'll pass, maybe if prices fall or a really good deal comes along, I'll reconsider.
Heaven Angel
Whats the verdict on SSDs? Is it worth it to get on just to chuck the OS partition on it? Since most of my PC usage is for games (and they will go on the normal HDD), I am a little undecided. SSD's only loads things faster. Which is great for Operating Systems, such as boot times, opening files and folders, and programs, everything will benefit from an SSD. An SSD will not increase performance of a game such as frames per second, it will only load levels faster. I'm using SSD drive for almost a year now for OS and applications..Once the game/level is loaded into ram it won't access the drive. Your load times will decrease, how much will depend on how much data needs to be loaded and how fast your SSD is. MMORPGs will have slight advantage over loading time. If you're planning to get SSD for games, I would say no.
KJD
I'll pass, maybe if prices fall or a really good deal comes along, I'll reconsider. Me too. Was thinking to buy 128GB OCZ vertex 4 at 7.5K. But I can manage 40-50 sec boot time. 256 gigs and 500 gigs SSDs are priced insanely high. There is no sense getting'em right now. I seriously missed BF deal on SSDs. It was crazy pricing really. Yes If someone is working with IDEs like eclipse, visual studio or tools like photoshop with heavy projects and large enough DB, (mysql workbench will sure improve record set load time) regularly, then SSD will make sense. But yes, in any case program needs to be installed on SSD. Edited December 24, 2012 by KJD

It will be wise to pass for now although I know people who would not pass the chance to use an SSD in all their build.
Aftrunner
Yeah I will just stick with the old Sata that I have. SSD was like 10% of my new build cost. Phew. Edited December 24, 2012 by Aftrunner

Nemo
Guys please help me out. I am having a problem trying to connect my laptop (hp) to the home wifi. Its unusual in the sense that every other device connects to it without a hitch- cell phones, other laptops, ipads, but mine does not. I do get all full bars but there is a small yellow exclamation mark on top of that. Tried to run the troubleshoot and it says that "the connection does not have a valid IP config". None of the other portable device in the house has any problem and moreover weirdly, couple of nights ago my laptop did infact connect flawlessly to the wifi but today when i turn it on, the same problem is there. Aftrunner
Start - All programs - Accessories - Command prompt (run as administrator) Type Ipconfig /all in the command prompt and check your IPv4 IP add. Chances are you are getting something that starts with 169.254.x.x If thats the case you can try - Rebooting the Wifi router, turning your laptop wifi on and off. Manually setting an IP add and DNS. (IPv4) - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Change-TCP-IP-settings Disable, enable your Wifi adapter (Start- run Type npca.cpl and then right click to disable and then enable after 1-2 minutes. Reset TCP IP stack (usually last resort)
Elessar
Guys I was rethinking my audio setup problem, now there is another avenue open to me. I can request a friend to bring me headphones from the US, so can someone recommend the best headphones for my PC and PS3 for a budget of around 100$ ? I like the pulse elite edition wireless, and I'm willing to push my budget to 120 for them, but then I thought my primary gaming is going to be on the PC (only next year's exclusives and GTA5 on PS3 now) so why go for a headset customized for PS3.. Also looked up the turtle beach headphones, but their setup for the PS3 has too many wires for my taste :(/> But if they really are the best option then I am willing to put up with the setup whenever I have my PS3 out (but some people on amazon say the px21 have hissing ?) 1. Usage will be gaming and movies etc., no need for music. 2. I do not want extra accessories/wires. As minimal as possible. 3. Pretty inflexible budget. 4. Since I can forget warranty etc, want to go for reliable sturdy brands. I know the budget/requirements may look poor to audiophiles, but I am using really cheap stuff right now and want to have some improvement. Would appreciate any help, thanks. Edit - need to finalize by tomorrow, otherwise won't be time for shipping it to him. Edited December 25, 2012 by Elessar
Elessar
These seem to have excellent reviews across the board - http://shop.steelseries.com/us/audio/steelseries-siberia-v2-for-ps3.html Anyone has experience with them ? ALPHA17
Instead of the SteelSeries Siberia V2 go for these -- Corsair Vengeance 1500 ~4800/-. Here are a few reviews -- Corsair Vengeance 1500 review / Corsair Vengeance 1500 Gaming headset review / Eight 7.1 channel gaming headsets compared -- Tom's Hardware. The Siberia v2 will set you back by close to ~7000/- INR on-street here. Hope this helps And a merry Christmas to all on the thread, Cheerio! Elessar
As I was considering getting them from the US, both siberia v2 and corsair 1500 are pretty much similar priced.. Plus the other siberia model I was considering (30$ extra) also supports PS3.. Thanks for the suggestion, still thinking about it.

I think Corsair one is also supported, it has a USB 3.0 port based audio, doesn't the PS3 use that?

How old is the mouse? I think it is showing the first symptoms of double-clicking issue. I use a LOGITECH G300 / G400.
