Imrahn
uhm, GX2 around 17-18k and 4870 X2 around 30k+ I wudnt recommend a GX2 coz with the microstuttering it has, it sometimes performs poorly in many of the games.and i think the X2 also got the same prob. AtheK
so 8800 GTX is OK? Nope if you going for a single card and you want the best out there get 4870...
Imrahn
well that is the best solution for any one not having SLI board and as for Scaling its usally game based and not hardware based... I wasnt talking abt scaling, its abt the micro stuttering which effectively reduces the fps that these monsters are able to pump out and that is something hardware related. You wont be able to max it at on a 8600GT but it should run smoothly at low to medium quality settings even at 1440.
Pushy
Will it be able to run crysis? Edit: I have vista x64 u will be able to run CRYSIS, but iCan't say whether u will enjoy teh GFX /sarcasm. BTW, iHas posted this earlier, but iGuess it went unanswered, so: whenever iUse me GFX card + 4(2*2) GB RAM, Vista(64bit UL) shows a BSOD on loading screen and restarts. But when iRemove GFX card and only has 4GB, Vista starts really well. Also Vista starts well if it's 2GB + GFX card. iHas tried 32Bit/64Bit Home Premium/Ultimate but same problame. Though no problame occurs on XP. why is this happening, does me GFX has a limit of 2GB RAM? me GFX card supports HyperMemory. BTW instead of telling all teh things of me GFX card, here's teh link to it http://www.palit.biz/en/products/ati_pcie_...0PRO-Sonic.html except mine's XpertVision and not Palit i guess

Actually, i had played the game at my cousin's with Particle at Ultra Quality and Texture at High(or maybe its the other way around , dont remember; but thats the max the game had got) @ 1280x1024 and it was real smooth - minimum of 30+ fps was there(now, close to 30+ is "smooth" or not is another discussion ).So, i assumed it shud be similar for a bit higher reso too....had to say i was very very impressed with how optimised the game was. Imrahn
But when iRemove GFX card and only has 4GB, Vista starts really well. U mean using another g-card the 4 gig config is fine? I wud recommend u Memtest both rams in dual channel overnight and see if it passes with no errors. It can also be related to SMPS,mobo or a bad DIMM. Pushy
^^ how many ram slots u got ? TWO RAM slots. iHas Transcend ones,2GB each 800 Hz. BTW they run fine on XP, even with 4GB + GFX card. problame arises only on Vista. BTW XP shows only 2.5~2.9GB when both teh rams r installed + GFX card. Imrahn
I wud still recommend Memtesting ur rams for 3 or 4 passes atleast without any error. The fact that Vista is BSODing at load screen points to hardware incompatibility IMO. on the other matter, 32 bit OS can recognise a max of 4 gig only including all the mapped memory like GFX memory.so, if ur GFX card is 512 mb,only 3.5 gb ram will be detected in a 32 bit OS even though 4 gig is installed.U need a 64 bit OS to fully utilize the 4 gig. Imrahn, ihas Vista 64 bit installed. iGuess me GFX cannot take RAM upto 4GB, reason, as i said is if put 4 GB RAM only then Vista loads without any problem. BTW which utility u recommend for Memtesting? and me GFX is 256MB, it's Hyper memory raises it to 512 MB in XP and 1GB in Vista.
