ALPHA17
Just asking, why is the CX V2 500 not good? i am using it right now Poor quality main and secondary capacitors used, efficiency rating of 80+ at 30° Celsius while the Seasonic holds 80+ Bronze efficiency 45° Celsius and above. ALPHA17
Thanks Alpha and Akiyama. Repped. And Alpha, I can wait till January do i need to wait more? Edit : Nvm man :\ Intel Haswell possibly delayed till June 2013 I cannot wait that long. Also, the motherboard and ram i selected isn't good? I thought 8gb is necessary these days. :mellow:/> or buying 4x2 or 8x1 ? Which is more reliable? I think the best bet for you would be to stagger the purchase, if you are okay to the idea go for the following build phases -- Phase I -- Cabinet + SMPS + other peripherals that you need OR cannot salvage. Phase II -- Graphic card + RAM + UPS Phase III -- CPU + processor + any outstanding purchases. If the above 'phase-system' is not fine, I suggest you hold off purchases till the end of the month and go for the following RIG -- The motherboard and processor you have chosen are incompatible that is why you cannot use them together, the processor is from AMD and the motherboard is meant for Intel Ivy-Bridge processors. Intel Core i3 3220 ~7000/- OR Core i5 3470 ~11000/- GIGABYTE-B75M-D3H ~4500/- Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3200/- (OR the RAM you selected) -- Always try to get a dual-channel / tri-channel / quad-channel memory kit dependent on the platform you choose, in your case the Intel Ivy-Bridge platform supports dual-channel memory so get 2 memory modules to enable it. This leads to better bandwidth associated performance. For more on topic --> Multi-channel memory architecture @wiki GTX660 2GB ~15800/- OR AMD HD7870 2GB ~18000/- Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB ~4000/- Seasonic S12II 520W ~4400/- NZXT Gamma ~2500/- OR Cooler Master eLite 311 ~2000/- APC BR700VA-IN ~3200/- Where are you based and where will you purchase all the components from? Can you retrieve certain components from your old PC like the monitor, keyboard + mouse and optical drive from your old build? I know all this adds up but I am not a magician but am convicted that the above configuration should allow you to play games at High -->Medium fidelity for the next ~2 -->3 years at full-HD resolution. Cheers! Hope this helps and wishing all on this thread and their families a Happy, Prosperous and Healthy 2013. and what about cooler master PSU'S? All the eXtreme series, the Thunder series and GX series initial batches are pretty much in the same boat OR worse. The only Cooler Master SMPS's that I trust are the Silent Pro M, Silent Pro M Gold and above series. Hope this answers your queries. AK77
When did you get the SMPS? Its about 9-10 months old. Any info. about their warranty period? I think applicable for 5 years, so no problem.

Should be from the later batches, so chances of a fault are low. About warranty period you are right it is 5 years Limited. In the Corsair VS and CX series I think it is axed to just 3 years.

Bird Bird Bird
So 2 of the leg pins (which are pushed down the mobo holes) of my CPU cooler (stock, Core i5 1st gen) broke. Is there to get them replaced ? If no, which aftermarket CPU cooler should I go for ? Will this suffice ? Also the "CPU Overheating" indicator of the mobo is glowing red, checked and found there the thermal paste has dried up. Which one should I get ? Links will be appreciated. No overclocking or anything, just for general use.

Reviews- Go for Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler, I will say that the base on the Hyper 212 Evo is probably one of the best, if not THE best direct contact design I have ever seen on a CPU cooler. As far as performance goes, this cooler is an excellent $35 well spent. What I've found with other direct contact heatpipe coolers, even this one, is that the idle temperatures are almost always superb. This is due to the very quick heat transfer rate of the cooler, thanks for the direct interface between the CPU and the cooler. Coolers without direct contact heatpipes require that the heat from the processor travel through an additional interface (the base itself) before making it to the heatpipes. With a light-weight and small cooler, the idle temperatures achieved here are quite good. The load temperatures are nothing to shake a stick at either, but the numbers are exemplary of a small cooler. Even though the idle temperatures are great, the heat capacity of the cooler prevents it from having superb "load" numbers. Without as much mass as the other comparison units, the ability to handle a high heat load tapers off. For someone looking for a budget cooler for a build that may even see some heavy overclocking, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo is an excellent choice — especially for the money. The performance results and overall quality and simplicity of the cooler make it a very nice heatsink to work with and use. Installation is easy and applies even pressure, the fan clip-on mechanism is super fast and hassle-free, the fan itself is not loud at all, and the performance numbers are good. I will not hesitate to offer this cooler as my #1 suggestion to those on a budget! Source- http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/cm_hyper212_evo/5.htm The Evo remains an inexpensive, inexplicably kick-a*s cooler. I already went through the Overclockers etc reviews before posting here. Thing being, it is not available for 35$ in India. CMH TX3 EVO is in the range of 1450 and 212 EVO in the range of 2300, so was asking in terms of VFM proposition. Even TX3 EVO has some excellent reviews, plus I won't be tweaking voltages or overclocking. Going in for a new cooler only because the stock one had it's push pins broken. :| Other factor is the inclusion of a thermal paste with the packing. From what I have seen online, 212 EVO comes with a TP loaded onto a syringe, but there's no info on TX3 EVO. Flipkart says only the HS and fan. If I'll have to buy the TP separately, the overall pricing will be in the range of EVO. Alpha mate, where art thou ?

Source- http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/337530-28-does-cooler-include-paste Thanks. I think the TX3 will be a better choice considering the size of the fans. Using an Intel DP55WG, so the CMH 212 EVO will possibly spread over the RAM slots given it's large size and 120mm fans. And I think both will do a better job than the stock cooler, eh ?
