I have very little exposure to SkullCandy headphones but in my experience they have a bias to go for bass over most other sound elements. Often this blankets the sound and kills details and other nuances.

Recommend you go for a Audio Technica OR Koss headphone in the same budget range if possible.

Suggest you get a 2.1 set-up then, most songs sound better on that OR stereo configurations because they are recorded for the same and not 5.1 systems.

Where are you based, I am not too sure with speakers so suggest you do a bit of homework.

If this is for personal use, you can also look at headphones --

Please do your homework before purchasing any of these.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

thanks bro but i need suggestion for speakers not headphones,I already have Sennheiser hd 558

Have a macbook pro. I wanted to restore it to factory settings so that i can use it from scratch, it was with my parents earlier and they were having trouble doing the windows stuff (ppt, word etc) on it so i traded my hp laptop. I erased the hdd but did not realize in time that this would erase the OS as well :samui:

Now its asking me to download the OS from apple and is showing 160 hours as ETA. As my reaction to that is aptly summed up in the following-

I was hoping if some one can direct me to alternate sources for getting the OS. I know that apple does not hand out cds. So what to do ? You can PM too :)

While starting MAC, immediately hold option/alt button then a recovery drive will come.
Source- asked a friend who is using mountain lion.

You can always download untouched ISO's from torrent/link sites and re-install your OS.

(that's what I did when I had to re-install my OS..

Download, install, enter key when asked, done.)

Down to 2 options now:

Dell ~Rs.45,700/-

3rd Gen Intel® Core™ i5-3317U

Windows 8 SL,15 Months McAfee

4GB RAM

1TB HDD

2GB AMD Radeon™ HD 8730M

15.6" HD WLED Display

Good looking elegant Black machine

CONS:

1) Ultrabook proc, a little apprehensive if it'll be able to take games on med settings after a year or two

2) Slighlty weaker GPU wrt the Other machine

SAMSUNG Rs.46,000/-

3rd Gen Intel® Core™ i5-3230M

Windows 8 SL

6GB RAM (4+2)

1TB HDD

2GB AMD Radeon™ HD 8750M

15.6" HD WLED Display

Cons:

1) Not sure how the battery life would be

2) Looks (dinchak silver)

The samsung is definately a better machine, have no idea how long the battery would last. Plus only from asthetic point of view, I'd prefer the sober elegant DELL, but just iffy about the proc handling games in the future

Fire away :)

The SAMSUNG notebook all the way. Better processor, better GPU and more RAM.

Yes the battery life will go down but how much that affects your mileage depends on the number of cells in the battery.

EDIT not working.

Usage is

all work on MS excel, Tally erp9 , some AutoCAD & soon some designing softwares in due time

Gaming in free time, though have a PS3 & xbox with a large backlog

As far as your CAD CAM CAE needs go, the Samsung should suffice you well for a few years. At the most maybe in the future you would need to increase the RAM as long as your gpu is good.

I did my projects on a lowly 4 gb core2duo and the less I talk about its graphics the better.

And you can always opt for a 9 cell battery upgrade if you have the option

This is regarding power backup and surge protection, I plan to use my PS3 alongside Videocon D2H HD with my 40" LCD TV. The operational power for the TV is 180W.

I am planning to purchase a UPS to which I will connect the PS3, the TV and the DTH STB. Would a UPS like this be sufficient?

I am not looking for much power backup, something in the region of 5-10 minutes would be more than sufficient. I believe all ports of the UPS will provide surge protection as well. Right?

The Samsung has a 3cell battery they claim 4 hours on, the Dell has a 6 cell they claim 8 hours on due to the U processing

SAMSUNG and other manufacturers offer specific after purchase components and getting a more powerful battery should not be an overtly complicated matter.

These often can double up as impromptu stands because of the bulge in their design.

Get an APC 650VA UPS if possible to stay within a safer margin of protection.

For the 600VA UPS you have zeroed in on, all the power sockets provide surge protection as well but in the case of a more powerful UPS these are often split, the surge protection sockets do not have battery backup integrated. You can contact APC India and clear this out with them.

I saw one UPS which had 4 sockets with battery backup, and one with only surge protection. The UPS I have mentioned, has three sockets, all 3-pin so should be able to handle the load.

I already am using the same UPS for my desktop so will connect these devices to it and test it out before buying an additional one.
