^^ The above should set you back by ~7500/- on Chandni Chowk.

About a motherboard, look through the following, FM2 based motherboards @flipkart. I would personally recommend the MSi piece going for ~4000/- quid, gets the essentials right plus USB 3.0 ports seal it for me.

Any new APU on the horizon(say till December/January)?

There is a new type in the pipes, code-name Kaveri.

It will need you to purchase FM2+ socket motherboards though and I cannot pin-point a release date to give you.

If something will be coming by, say, January, then I'm good to wait.

FM2+ boards are available now, or only FM2? Both compatible with each other?

My laptop has 2 gb Radeon graphics but for some reason the display adapter is getting listed as intel 4000. Dxdiag confirms that I do in fact have a graphic card installed. So I don't think the Shopkeeper fooled me :P

But why is this happening? M I using my on board graphics instead of dedicated? If so is there a method to switch?

Install the latest Catalyst driver suite from here.

After installation you will have to dictate applications to the driver which benefit from the AMD GPU running full blast (e.g., games) and other times where it would be more prudent to switch to the Intel iGP (watching a movie) or when you are mobile and working of the battery. Also, if you want the GPU running full blast all the time just customise the performance-power settings from CONTROL PANEL.

Once that is done you should not have the issue unless you have put the laptop into power-saver mode.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

I use the ATI radeon 3000 card is it okay for atleast low settings??

Sorry im kinda noob in PC stuff I play mostly on consoles

Also i have a 4GB RAM and 2.8 GHz processor

What type of RAM and what is the exact model on the CPU?

You can use CPU-Z to find out and post it here.

About the ATi card, I am sorry to say but the HD3000 series is pretty dead. You might be able to play the occasional indie title but nothing more than that.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Downloaded Catalyst suite and installed it.. but what next? Can't see any particular application that reads AMD or Radeon or some such.. (sorry for my ignorance.. Is the first time I am using a machine with decent graphics config)

Edit: in fact, destination folder

c:Program FilesATI Technologies

is empty!

Edit: found the control panel by right clicking on desktop.. Still don't see an always on option

I doubt.

You will be asked to do that everytime you launch an application and the Catalyst driver is running in the background.

Once all applications have been catalogued you can continue work without any more issues, unless you want to change their power-use profiles.

Right click on desktop, there should be an option called SWITCHABLE GRAPHICS (with the Catalyst logo), select that and you should enter the profiling section.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Hey Alpha, any idea about this problem? :(

iblyx0sjLAI2F0.png

I was okay with this few weeks ago but lately it's really really frustrating when everything moves at 0.05 speed.

This is occurring randomly.

Sometimes with:

Chrome: Mouse freezes for 3 seconds, then when I move and click, entire browser freezes and then crashes.

Notepad: For last few weeks, this is really annoying. I'm not even able to type more than 1 sentence without facing this issue.

Internet download manager integration module for chrome: I disabled it, still appears randomly and crashes everything. =\

Any idea what's causing this?

Thanks.

Sorry Joe, I have no handle on Windows8. Trying to learn on my sister's laptop but I have not gone far enough into it.

You can try reinstalling Chrome. My sister ended up installing some search bar in Chrome and even after resetting everything, deleting the extension and removing traces of the links I could not get Chrome to stop redirecting to that search bar app. Finally ended up reinstalling it to cure the issue.

Are you on Windows8 or 8.1?

Also what triggered such anomalous behaviour?

Does the notepad process start at boot? Found this on topic.

P.S. -- Just to be safe do a virus + malware scan.

Best nvidia driver for old gpus like 9 series? The recent ones suck and they decrease performance :(

nVidia forums with the model number of your card along with the rest of the configuration would be a better place to ask.

Or try Google.
