ColorCodePurple
Hey! I asked for help for rig specs a couple of month on and so I have decide on:Intel i5 4670 (Non K, I dont plan on overclocking) -MotherBoard- 4x2 gigs of corsair Vengeance R9 290 (Saphire Tri X or Msi twin Frozr version) Samsung 120GB HDD and to power it all Corsair 650w PSU (Cant find seasonic on flipkart) Now my issue is with the mother board, I have already bought an NZXT H440,it has two USB 3.0 ports, and two USB 2.0 ports. Earlier I planned on buying Gigabyte b85m d3h but a) Has only one internal USB 3.0 header (So I lose functionality in one USB) b ) Is mATX, I thought why not get an ATX board since my case supports it. Now, im looking for a mobo that is under 10k and supports two 3.0 headers and two 2.0 headers. (I dont mind mATX too much) failing that is there anyway I can use the usb 3.0 in my case as a 2.0? ALPHA17
Hey! I asked for help for rig specs a couple of month on and so I have decide on: Go for a Core i5 4690 or a Core i7 processor (if Watch_Dogs shows enough performance benefit with same). G.Skill kits over Corsair's, also make sure the frequency is 1866Mhz+. The GIGABYTE motherboard header can power both the forward USB 3.0 ports. Samsung 120GB HDD and to power it all Corsair 650w PSU (Cant find seasonic on flipkart) Don't go for a 120GB SSD, 240 / 256GB will be better if you can afford one. About SMPS, please source a Seasonic M12 / X series 650W piece over any other offering by Corsair unless you are planning to get the Corsair TX / AX series. Is there any significant advantage of ATX over mATX? I'll check the local shops here in Pune, in June. I'm sure i should be able to find it. Thanks! Found this over at FlipKart. http://www.flipkart.com/seasonic-s12ii-620-watts-psu/p/itmd5xz46hjzzrax?pid=PSUD5XZ4GCGRASAY&otracker=from-search&srno=t_1&query=seasonic&ref=97bd6937-0945-4e48-8d8b-77b7ccd99490 How is this? ALPHA17
Is the i5 4690 recently released? If, so what price would it/has it released in Yeah! Intel announced it on the 11th of this month. Should be available in a week, tops two at most retailers. Oh good i'll go for the Gigabyte board only. Is there any significant advantage of ATX over mATX? Yes, more space on the board for components. better layout for the same. more ports and connector options generally, easier to interact with. better passive cooling and spacing between components due to layout. these are the significant advantages to be had but then you must pay for them. So we must start looking it at from that angle then. If you are willing to invest in a good full ATX board, will give you a couple options tomorrow. Another thing, This (http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-290-vs-GeForce-GTX-770) is making me reconsider buying R9 290 over the GTX 770 specially considering that the GTX 770 is actually cheaper. Ph3N0M
Do you see Broadwell releasing before Black Friday?
ALPHA17
Do you see Broadwell releasing before Black Friday? Can be, depends on Intel's success to coax enough stable yields with the 14nm node fabrication. Although the suits will try to release it that time for obvious reasons. hardcorelegend
Hi guys, Can you please suggest a decent gaming laptop? I just recently moved to bahrain due to job transfer. as much as I prefer desktops, I will be travelling a lot and it's not practical to buy one. I just want a laptop which preferably has a 15 inch or more full hd screen and would like a touchscreen if possible. I want to able to play most games(even medium/low settings are fine). I had decided on lenovo y510p but that's not available here. Budget is 60-70k inr. Any suggestions? I have a friend whose coming from india on 22nd. I can ask him to carry it here or I can buy from an online vendor who offers international shipping(amazon.co.uk ships to bahrain but there are so many models that it's confusing and price is also on the higher side.). I prefer buying online over making someone carry it for me. What do u suggest guys. Sorry for any typos/lack of formatting, this was typed on mobile. Thanks
ALPHA17
^ Get a Y510P from Amazon.uk in that case with the best GPU you can stuff into your budget. At your budget nothing comes close to the performance of that little monster.
Snake
^ Pick a laptop from the following offerings @flipkart. The AMD APU offerings will be competent for light gaming which the Intel Core i3 / i5 based systems are not recommended. Thanks bro.... hardcorelegend
@alpha, The one at amazon comes with the older gt750. It costs 77k inr shipped. Before I pull the trigger, can u tell if there are any touch enabled laps worth considering at the price point. Also, on a side note, do you happen to know any other site which ships to bahrain? The prices on amazon.co.uk are borderline roberry.

Ethan Hunt
I have a i5-4670k - running at factory clock. I use the stock intel cooler. A couple of days, i noticed temperatures and was a little concerned. Idle - 40-42 C Under 90% Load in BF4 - ~78-80C Now this seems a little high - i am going to thoroughly clean my cabinet (Bitfenix outlaw) but does it make sense to add an aftermarket cooler ? Whats the best choice for around 2-3k - hyper 212X ? Whats the improvement i should expect in temperatures ?

Adding a Hyper 212X / 212EVO / T4 will see your peak temperatures drop to the mid 60's range. What is the ambient temperature in Bangalore these days and yes these temperatures on load are high. Not scary high but bad enough.
Ethan Hunt
Around 32-33 I did 2 things today ... changed the PSU orientation so that its fan blows air out of the case rather than inside - and ordered one more case fan to add to the intake in front and exhaust in rear. I will probably add this fan also as an exhaust on top. If the temp's dont change - time for a Hyper 212. Btw i understand 212X is the new 212Evo - whats the difference between them & T4 ? Also, i remember someone had posted a link on how to change the CPU cooler - i am more worried about cleaning the CPU of the old thermal paste and applying the new one. Can someone share the link ? ALPHA17
If the temp's dont change - time for a Hyper 212. Btw i understand 212X is the new 212Evo - whats the difference between them & T4 ? Difference is mostly in the mounting system, the contact base of the cooler and the fan that gets bundled with the different models. The T4 is the cheapest model with the most stable mounting system but it comes at the cost of the base being a lot rougher around the edges and without a unified heat-pipe solution, the fan bundled is the same as on the EVO, also, the T4 is the thinnest and lightest amongst the three. The 212EVO comes in the middle and the 212X is the highest end 212 series heat-sink, the Hyper 412 comes after it. I would suggest you either go for the T4 or 212X depending on the budget and how much leeway it offers you. For applying thermal paste, I suggest you refer to the following guide, @Benchmark reviews. Hope this helps, Cheerio!
