kemosabe
I have faced odd behavoir in my PC , let me list them out - 1. Today my PC failed to boot , I tried to troubleshoot using the windows 8 boot tool but failed. I tried system restore, which it completed successfully but failed to boot again.I also tried to refresh and reset the windows 8 but it does not take the optical disc, I think I need to create a recovery drive in a usb drive. I tried to re install the windows 8 os, but it prompted some driver is missing not showing any of my drive in the list. Finally I opened my cabinet, dust it off, check the plug and reboot, but same problem. I went to BIOS and while checking I noticed that the SATA is IDE and I changed to AHCE. After rebooting windows 8 booted well and showed that my system restore worked successfully. 2. Couple of days back while booted my pc, my screen size was not full, it is only taking a small part of the whole screen, I restarted the PC and it works fine for me. 3. I have Seagate baracudda 1 tb drive which was crashed 1 yr back and seagate replaced it with a new one, that drive is almost full and while accessing the drive it takes couple of seconds to show all the files n folders. I am using this drive as a data drive storing movies, songs etc. After booting the pc, I have not restarted it yet. Any suggestions ALPHA17
ALPHA17
I have faced odd behavoir in my PC , let me list them out - Hi Kemosabe, I suggest you download a tool like HDD Sentinel to check whether your hard-drive is keeping in good health or no. If it is in bad shape, suggest you save all your important data to a safe location and give this drive for replacement. Apart from that I would even suggest you go and have a look at the S.M.A.R.T. status of your drive in the BIOS / UEFI if supported. The second problem seems to be more of a graphic driver issue, update to latest and see if the problem persists. Also the 1TB drive is that a low power / Green Edition variant? Hope this helps, Cheerio!
pbpoovannagamer
If you have a twitter handle you can tweet this to Aditya Infotech / Sapphire. Bring the pressure to bear and get this sorted out. Try the same on facebook as well. I have RMA-ed only two things, an MSi graphic card (whose replacement came boxed, not sealed) and my processor (this was posted to my correspondence address, sealed). So this return of un-boxed cards can mean either of two things, Aditya Infotech no longer replaces cards, it tries to repair / refurbish and return. You are getting the same old card you file for RMA. Maybe, with or without any work carried out on it. Also, does the card completely open, as in without even a basic anti-static bag on it? yes it had an anti-static bag! gave it back for replacement. they said they don't repair, they will check for faults and then just replace with new copy. They will never give new boxed Cards only Loose replacements They assured me this time i will get a working copy....in 2 days lol!! earlier 10 days etc! keeping my fingers crossed as i have no budget for a new card anytime soon. Hope this helps, Cheerio! thanks for your quick reply. I will check those info as you suggested and let you know. The 1tb seagate HDD is a normal one not the green variant as I remembered. After posting this post, I have rebooted my system multiple times, it find a problem in one of those boots and windows fixed that automatically and rebooted. It was showing error as DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE. I googled a bit about it, and checked the dump file using BlueScreenView, here is the screen shot -
ALPHA17
^ It seems that the issue crops up in-case there is a driver conflict, I take it that you faced this issue only after you updated to Windows8.1. I would suggest you update all drivers that you can manually and see if the problem persists. Do you have a hunch as to why this is occurring, did you update something recently or some such? Windows 8.1 updated long back. But yes, in last week or so, windows got some updates.
ALPHA17
^ Can you roll back to a restore point before the latest updates. Also, update your graphic drivers to the latest ones.

_Krypton_
i have a mid 2010 macbook pro 13" that does not boot up. Just got it checked from an apple reseller who asked me to replace it's motherboard that'll cost ~ 15-17k . already got a macbook pro retina last month . Do i have any cheaper workaround than spending 15k ? Alternatively ,how much will it fetch me if i decide to sell it?

Don't know if there is a local repair guy way of getting the whole motherboard replaced on these things.

In bangalore there are a couple of guys who will do it for lesser (not authorised apple service centers, but they still do a good job).
Ph3N0M
Yesterday night when I turned on the PC, it gave a CPU fan error on an "American Megatrends" page, asking to go to setup(UEFI/BIOS). There, it didn't even detect a fan on the CPU. I think I shut down the PC yesterday afternoon, but I now doubt that seeing this as I think either I forgot to switch off or someone turned it on later in my absence. The PC had also given a warning that temperature had reached 73 degrees the last time IIRC(the heat here is unbearable, and I live without AC - hostel room). I guess there is no other option now except buying a new cooler? Could this have done any additional damage besides the fan failure? It was the stock Intel fan if it matters. BTW, if anyone here built a new PC recently with an aftermarket cooler, can you please sell your stock fan to me if I need one? ALPHA17
BTW, if anyone here built a new PC recently with an aftermarket cooler, can you please sell your stock fan to me if I need one? Check if there are any loose connections / dust settling in the CPU area and CPU_FAN connector. Clean and redo the connections once. Stock fans are required for warranty and replacement reasons. I suggest, you purchase a cheap heat-sink fan combo from online and get your processor plus stock HSF RMA-ed as soon as possible.

So be thankful.
ALPHA17
Which CPU? Dude, it could've been worse... CPU could've fried. So be thankful. Core i5 3570 / Core i7 3770 if I am not wrong. And yes, even I concur on the latter part, in my opinion the UEFI kicked in to prevent this from happening the moment the processor exceeded its DeltaT. Ph3N0M
i7 3770k. I think 2 years have not passed since I bought it, so I'll get warranty right? What will I have to send for RMA, only fan or CPU also? BTW, Alpha, that Flipkart link is not working.

Will sell it most probably since it is maintained really well .
Ph3N0M
Apha, what did you say about stock cooler needed for warranty? Those with third-party coolers don't get any warranty from Intel(third-party fans would be a bad deal in that case imo)? What about someone who is replacing his stock fan by another stock fan, like me?
ALPHA17
so I'll get warranty right? Yes, I think three years is standard. What will I have to send for RMA Everything inside the CPU box, the HSF and the processor itself. BTW, Alpha, that Flipkart link is not working. Will give you a fresh one. flipkart was behaving weird for me as well. Apha, what did you say about stock cooler needed for warranty? You need to send that along with the CPU for the RMA. It does not matter whether you use it or as long as you send it along with the processor during claim of RMA.
Ph3N0M
So, I can't use another CPU cooler while the earlier one is being RMA'd? How long will this process take? Will they just replace the fan or do something else also?
