ALPHA17
Do the prices seem correct? No GPU required to power two monitors? Yeah! Prices are in-line, maybe the hard-drive and optical can be cheaper. No GPU required.

Ethan Hunt
So i have ordered a Z87 mobo & a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB to upgrade my PC. My existing 1TB HDD is partitioned into 2 equal drives - Windows 8.1 is installed on one. Whats the best way of moving Windows to the new SSD ? Should i reinstall Windows 8.1 on SSD, move my data from existing system partition to it and then format it OR use the cloning / magician software which will come with the SSD ? You can use the cloning software although, I would suggest you do a clean install on the SSD.

Can you use some other OUTPUT from your graphic card. Also, what cable do you use for graphic card, was it the same as the one you used for onboard graphics?

When i connect my monitor to motherboard VGA board , it run normally , but when i use my GPU dvi port , monitor goes to power saving mode . Are the fans on your GPU running ? This sounds like a GPU problem. Try connecting your monitor to the GPU through HDMI/VGA port if present. Or check your GPU in any other system. You can use the cloning software although, I would suggest you do a clean install on the SSD. Hmmm ... Can i keep my Origin library in 2 different drives ? I want to keep BF4 on SSD but other games on HD.

I have used my working VGA cable (which i tested with motherboard vga port) through dvi-vga adapter and still same problem . Are the fans on your GPU running ? This sounds like a GPU problem. I have tried DVI cable as well as VGA cable .

ColorCodePurple
Follow up on my Rig. I've ordered a bunch of parts. I am not overclocking or anything, I am using an R9 290 tri X though
ALPHA17
^ Go for the Seasonic M12II 650W variant or the X660W. Sent from my ST27i

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It look like my card is faulty . I think RMA service of zotac is handled by Aditya Infotech . So i just have to take the GPU and warranty card or all accessories that came with it ?
ALPHA17
^ Do you have a spike board for your PC? I think the electricity spike or a brown out killed your card. Sent from my ST27i

This one is not available in Pune anywhere so will have to hunt Pune to find it Also I suspect 600w is overkill for my rig. The PSU calculator was recommending around 500. But should I get 650watt anyway? Edited May 29, 2014 by ColorCodePurple
ALPHA17
Can I know the difference between the two? This one is not available in Pune anywhere so will have to hunt Pune to find it Newer topography and design coupled with a modular cable system, so eleminates the tangle of wires inside the cabinet. Also I suspect 600w is overkill for my rig. The PSU calculator was recommending around 500. But should I get 650watt anyway? Yes 600W would be enough but having a more powerful SMPS does not count as a negative, it gives you breathing room to upgrade later.
ALPHA17
Hey, my ups cord, one of the three pins is burned out, can it be replaced? I see that one end goes inside the ups box. WHta do i do now, can the cable be replaced by opening the ups box or do i have to get a new ups? Which UPS is it, I mean brand and how old. If it is out of warranty, you can take it to the local electrician and get it replaced by him. HAlso, am running the pc by directly connecting without the ups, is it safe for a bit or should i switch it off till i get my ups fixed? You can power a PC through the mains but in any event of a spike / brown out, your PC is pretty much going to be defenceless.
