CarbonCore
Interesting. I've been looking it up. So around 10K for the celeron series. I have 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600 laptop ram lying about so that's taken care off. I'll need to spring for the HDD. What else? I've been using this as a dedicated HTPC with two 4TB and one 2TB drive connected to it and Plex installed. Does an amazing job at playing and streaming HD videos, even plays 4K samples locally. Streams to almost every device that has Plex support including iPads and Fire TV. You do not need powerful PC for local playback, but you do need one for streaming for on-the-fly transcoding if the target device doesn't support the codec. ox-
I want to dual boot Linux Mint and Windows 8.1. I already have Windows 8.1 installed on my 320 GB HDD. Will installing Linux Mint on my other 160 GB HDD create any problems with windows/bootloader or any problems at all? Is ditching windows completely an option? (The only thing which makes me think of dual boot is that I won't be able to play 3/4th of my game library on Linux)

Looks like something I'm looking for but I will have to import it. Any idea on duties and stuff? or do you know where I can buy it here? playstation
Is a good PSU absolutely needed? Oh dont even question that... I had purchaed 8600gt and had local PSU ...it worked for quite some time but was well under waranty but its capcitors and all were blown up.... when i went to get the waaranty ...Zebronics logon ne refuse kar diya..when i asked why they reported that all capacitors blown . So i told them its your product you should have not used that kinda of sh*t capacitors but they said this happens because of low grade PSU. Till this age i recommend everyone to buy a brand PSU.
goneforever
I'm thinking this sounds like a deal and was also looking at this as suggested by CarbonCore. I'm thinking their pretty similar aside from the Acer HTPC includes the HDD and Ram (both of which I already have). Or did i miss something? ALPHA17
^ Standard hard-drives will not fit inside the NUC enclosure and you would need compatible laptop RAM. If you have that, I see no reason for picking it up. Also, use this directly with the television not streaming.

Aftrunner
Whats the word on the Intel Pentium G3258? Any idea about the price? I'm thinking their pretty similar aside from the Acer HTPC includes the HDD and Ram (both of which I already have). Or did i miss something? With a HDD and RAM it will come to about 32k ish. Honestly, you could build a better HTPC than that price. So probably not a great idea. ACER HTPC, I have no idea how much it will cost to import that. But again at 30k plus, you can make something as good for much cheaper. Edited July 16, 2014 by Aftrunner
ALPHA17
Whats the word on the Intel Pentium G3258? Any idea about the price? No idea on price although I see it falling between ~4500/- -->6000/- depending on a lot of factors and how aggressively Intel wants to be. Also, it should release sometime with Devil's Canyon pieces, so that's that. With a HDD and RAM it will come to about 32k ish. Honestly, you could build a better HTPC than that price. Problem is the size of the custom build. Apart from that I am all in favour of the latter approach.

Aftrunner
Ok So what do you guys think of -- Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Intel Pentium G3220 Nvidia baseline GPU (210, 410, 610 or something similar) Or I can spring for - AMD A8-6600k MSI A88XM-E35 No GPU. Again, keep in mind this is ONLY for video playback upto 1080p. Intel works out cheaper and I think it gives me more options, I think I can run that intel rig without a GPU too. Should be able to handle 1080 p vids right? Also whats a good PSU? 350-400 W should be alright. Nothing fancy.
