A colleague is looking for a 3G dongle (he has 3G SIM). Primarily to be used on a single laptop, but is intrigued by Wifi hotspot possibility. Budget Rs. 1500.

Here are all your options @flipkart, obviously, local purchase will be cheaper.

I have a Huawei piece on me (E303F), bought for ~1300/- from Nehru Place. Works fine on laptops although on my desktop it drops to 2G.

I've suggested this one to him.

Theoretically supports faster speeds than the cheaper models.

I'll keep an eye out around that time. thanks :)

Check out @onlyssd.com. It is a Bombay based enterprise.

anyone know where I can get an hdd bracket? Can't seem to find the one that came with the cabinet

You will have to scour eBay.

Or contact shops at Lamington Rd. and see if they can deliver a couple pieces to you.

A small point to mention to Comrade Plasmakid, if you are going to purchase an SSD, either get it on a Black Friday offer or else purchase local.

Yeah bought it locally, 250GB Evo for 10k something. I don't think importing SSD (even with sale) is worth it, local prices for storage are pretty competitive prolly because vendors get them directly from SE Asia.

Also thinking of adding another 290 as crossfire, should I go with Corsair RM 850 or RM 1000? Its only 2k difference between the two.

Seasonic X series or Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold equivalent instead of Corsair's RM series, 1000W, just for peace of mind.

Black Friday actually is the only time I suggest you pick up a SSD from abroad. Better options (brand and interface) and depending on the offer, absolutely crazy prices.

I can't find 1000W version of SP Gold, only SP M2. Seasonic 1050XM looks interesting, will check that out. I just like the way Corsair ones let you monitor your PSU load and temps using their software.

No good if the guts are not the best in business.

Plus, what exactly do you gain by observing temperatures on the SMPS. Unless you plan to test the efficiency of your air-conditioning.

Where are you looking for it?

Anyway, the Silent Pro Gold is a Seasonic unit slapped with a Cooler Master sticker.

Is it some site or something ? If yes can u pm me please :fear:

lol its just someone I know in US who gets rebates n sh*t from Newegg. He says since lot of miners are dumping their AMD cards in market the retail prices are dropping to 300-350$ for new cards. If he comes to India I just tell him to bring one wrapped in a towel or something in his suitcase :P

I though RM series was regarded as high quality stuff?

Google it.

Corsair has been a bit shady off late. Retiring trusted lines such as the VX series and replacing them with VS series which are only 230v capable (so that no reviews from reliable sites like Johnny Guru). Severing ties with Seasonic who used to be their OEM when the entered the market, now I think only the HX and AX lines are in Seasonic's hands whilst the rest are outsourced to other OEM's.

Cooler Master on the other hand has started improving its offerings, Seasonic is Seasonic and they are just as reliable as five years back.

This is the review for the RM850W (from Johnny Guru), Wolf clearly mentions the sub-par capacitors used in the SMPS and they expect you to pay a premium. Even though the review closes with a recommended, I would suggest a Seasonic X / Platinum series or Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold for piece of mind and reliability's sake.

If you want to stay with Corsair, the AX or AXi should be your aim.

Ah cool, thanks

So Seasonic it is, I guess it has enough overhead for 2 fully OC'd 290 cards.

^ Yes, any 1000W should be more than enough. I thought about recommending the 850W but realised you were importing the piece, so in-case of a mis-match it would have meant a lemon.

Use this site to figure out how much power your PC guzzles. I have already done a rough guess-estimate, do one for yourself and see.

P.S. -- Sent you a STEAM friend request (same handle as here), please accept it.

I get about 720W, but with OC (+100mV) each GPU jumps almost a 100W, so I guess its still under limit. Plus I guess with crossfire there won't be any need for aggressive overclock at least for now.

How is it better when the HSDPA supported speeds are lower than the D-Link's?

And it lacks a memory slot as well, for all that is worth.

Theoratical speeds aside - you will never even hit 7Mbps on a 3G connection in India leave alone 21 or 14.4. Memory Slot is something i didnt notice - yes that gives the D-Link one a added advantage. From what i have seen around - Huawei cards have been generally better than D-Link in terms of After Sales / Heating / Support etc - plus this one is cheaper as well.
