varundbest
I am actually thinking to buy a new laptop. And a little confused between - http://www.flipkart.com/apple-md101hn-a-macbook-pro-laptop/p/itmdzmykfnyqzz6n?pid=COMDMKKAHYGRF9TM&srno=b_4&ref=0f032139-fd4c-4f1f-b9a5-999029d32084 and http://www.flipkart.com/dell-inspiron-15r-laptop-4th-gen-ci7-8gb-1tb-win8-2gb-graph-touch/p/itmdpgfmwzfgxnbj?pid=COMDPGFMZDMZCBZ5&srno=b_14&ref=61db7337-04b4-4320-b8b0-5986f0ee11e0 I won't really game on it, probably will do CS: GO in college... Would do 3DS MAX and AfterEffects stuff and coding/programming. For rendering, i'll prefer my desktop whenever possible (Will generally use it for 'making' the scene and render it later). Main thing for me is fast speed for lightweight stuff and fast boot times, etc. So what say? Or if there is any cheaper laptop which will fulfill my needs then i'm cool with that too. And what about this - http://www.flipkart.com/apple-md711hn-b-macbook-air-ci5-4gb-128gb-flash-mac-os-x-mavericks/p/itmdwdybu4hfhgqa?pid=COMDWDY8JBXJXRZG&ref=63710cd5-5e7d-4cf7-a629-c86c11491852&srno=b_2&otracker=latest-item Should i really go with mac? Any perks? Only reason i'm thinking of it is that it will be smooth, garageband (I play guitar) and maybe software stability...

Only reason i'm thinking of it is that it will be smooth, garageband (I play guitar) and maybe software stability... No real reason to go for a Mac, considering the prices are so high and the configuration not at all competitive. You can look at the following laptops in that price range. Hope this helps, Cheerio! What you will get with a Mac is a superior OS, unmatched engineering & smoothness of every software around.
Pacifier
Guys, I have a problem with my HP Laptop AMD A8. Its acting up all wierd and hoping for some advice. It is running Windows 7 Home Premium since 2 yrs. -Recently videos stopped playing . When ever i start a video, i get a windows has stopped responding error message. This happens to any video and played in any player, (wmp, vlc, media player classic). This is as if i lost some codecs but i didn't change a thing. -Also if i open a folder with large number of photos etc, then also i get same problem that explorer has stopped responding and asking me to close. Once i do it, i can only get back my stuff from task manager -> New Task -> explorer.exe (only after 5 mins, before that it says not found or something) - Just launched steam after ages, it updated, started and just closed on itself. Every time i start it up, it closes itself after the update screen The only thing i think has changed is that fact that my dvd drive seemed to have failed. (Tune UP showed me that. Until that i didn't realise it). But i doubt these random hangings are related. ALso i get the Windows Assesment tool has stopped working etc randomly. I have Eset Nod 32 antivirus, always uptodate, windows is also uptodate. Just wanted to know how can i look for a root cause? i.e. Is there any specific trusted software that does all these kind of health checks? System restore also didn't work. P.S. Videos, play fine when i drag and drop them on Chrome browser so not sure why that problem.
ALPHA17
^ Up date your graphics drivers. AMD Catalyst Mobility drivers are notoriously buggy. Also did this start out of the blue or after a certain update / installing a certain software?

Also did this start out of the blue or after a certain update / installing a certain software? It worked!. Now that i think of.. may be it was the previous catalyst driver update that screwed things up but that was more than a month back and i never had to play any video/launch steam before and hence couldn't relate to that. Thanks once again....

What you will get with a Mac is a superior OS, unmatched engineering & smoothness of every software around. And is that experience worth it? Coz i seem to have fallen for GarageBand. And which mac would you refer me to go with if i were to buy it - http://www.flipkart.com/laptops/pr?p%5B%5D=facets.brand%255B%255D%3DApple&p%5B%5D=sort%3Dprice_asc&sid=6bo%2Cb5g&ref=fcc7993f-d46f-42fd-9b29-6b4d8bef276d (Cheaper preferred if not much different, should be less than 70k) After recently getting burned down by a seller when i bought HTC One M8 and wasting around 2-3 weeks (And still waiting for a refund, 7-8 more days). I don't wanna buy a phone anymore and thinking of a laptop now....
ALPHA17
Thanks once again. Nice to know. And which mac would you refer me to go with if i were to buy it A Mac Pro is what I would recommend. For your needs, an Air just would not cut it. Sacrifice the SSD and aim for a high capacity hard-drive from the get go coupled with about 8GB of system memory. And is that experience worth it? I do not consider it with it. But that is just me.

Danny007
APC would be preferred, in my opinion. If it is a PlayStation 3 set-up, 15 -->20 minutes should be achievable, although I suggest you never risk it and power down the system as soon as possible in the event of a power outage. Thanks bro. Will keep that in mind :-) Edited August 20, 2014 by Danny007
ALPHA17
Sir, this Hmmm... I have no idea on this front. I suggest you do some homework before committing to any particular set-up, even if it is a Mac, although you can forget doing heavy 3D work and such on the same.

Mac Pro only if editing professionally - for sound editing even my 2008 Macbook Pro works just fine. And have you used a Mac for extended period of time ? :-) You might change your opinion. Less than 70k limits your options though - the only one coming in your price are the 2 11" models & the 128GB 13" model. I would say go for the 13" 128GB model for the extra screen estate - you wont regret it.

Mac's are over-rated.

Wont recommend this - it has the second gen i5. Better to buy the newer Haswell Macbook Air's and a external HDD. Animation student, sound and video editing was taught on Mac. Still did little to change my opinion. Mac's are over-rated. Well then your opinion differs from mine :-) If not for games - would never touch a windows PC outside office.
