Panthelon
I replaced the stock ppsu of my hp pavilion a1310in with an intex 450w psu and also installed 2 gigs of ram. However when i put in an xfx 8600gt into the pci-e slot, the computer doesnt boot. What could the problem be? Does the card require a power connector? check if the pwr connector is fitted properly..When you say doesn't boot do u mean no power at all or no video at all? Grimmjow
You have to get into the BIOS and disable the onboard graphics normally.

the_BIG_J
The config of my pc is as follows-Quad core 2.4 ghz Asus P5QC motherboad 4 gb ram SMPS-coolermaster 550watts and i m using windows xp sp3 The problem i am facing is frequent and sudden restarts...Can u help me out wid d solution ... Is there a hardware problem? I have heard heating problems with Quad cores..is that the case? Yes it probably is the temp, get core temp or real temp, and report back with the idle and load temps. If the temps are fine, its probably the PSU, but u havent mentioned ur GPU I replaced the stock ppsu of my hp pavilion a1310in with an intex 450w psu and also installed 2 gigs of ram. AtheK
^^ AMD 64 * 2 dual core 4400+, 2GB RAM, WD 320 gb HDD .. the problem occurs only wen i run FRAPS. disable fraps and have fun ... On a serious note make sure you dint map one of the buttons which is used in game for some purpose and in fraps is configured to take videos. How to check? babloos (from whom I bought the 8600GT) advised me to do an OS re-install, could that work?
Grimmjow
I am not sure if 8600GT actually requires a seperate connector..did you attach any cables apart from setting it in the slot? Also which brand/model 8600GT do u have?
Fire Wolf
By doing some googling I came to know that it doesn't require any seperate connector. it's an xfx 8600GT 256MB DDR3. EDIT: I just asked my comp. engineer again and he said that the graphics card fan was running and all, only that there wasn't any display (>_>).
