I have a couple of questions -

1)With my new Full HD TV the SD channels look quite horrible! even the HD channels are at 720p if am not wrong! i have a HD set top Box but all regional channels (which my parents watch frequently) are of poor quality (SD) while watching on this beautiful new TV.

Has any one here used an upscaler with their set top box? so the resolution can be upscaled to 1080p and my parents can watch all their regional channels in FHD ?

Most of the stuff available on amazon - 1500 Rs to 3000 Rs. are just input output switchers but i doubt if they will upscale a low resolution source to high resolution!!

2) I will be getting a PS4 by the end of the month - will PS4 play dvds with data (movies, music etc) burnt from a pc dvd writer ? will it play audio dvd?

Thanks but Both above my 5k budget mate.

How about a "used" one with warranty? You can scourge the internet.

Last time i checked the Seasonic S/M 520W's cost about 5.4k. Thanks to the economy the price rose from 4.7k-4.8k. How did i know? I keep checking the latest prices for pc components. Its all I do, really. XD

I use ICICI Debit Card(s) for these transactions.

Have you had them unlocked for international transaction purposes, if no, contact ICICI Customer Care and have it done.

^

Is it enabled by default for Hdfc cards?

No. It's not enabled by default UNLESS you have specifically been given an "International Debit Card". If not, then you need to give HDFC Bank an authorization to enable international transactions :)

For this, you need to visit your HDFC branch and fill out a form. It will require the account holder's signature and hence this cannot be done over the phone or with customer care :)

Same is applicable with HDFC credit cards. You need to specifically authorize them to enable international transactions on your card.

1) I have tata sky HD and most channels look quite good. have never used upscaler. I think most tata sky channels are 1080i .

2) PS4 wont read such discs, use Pendrive and transfer PS4 supported formats to it.

Okay, a pc i built is facing some problems. Specs are :

CPU : FX 6100

GPU XFX 6950 1GB

MOBO : MSI 970A g45

RAM : Corsair XMS3 2x4GB 1600mhz

OS : Windows 10 64bit

SMPS : CM 650w

While running games, pc is giving seriously low performance at 1600x900. Far cry 4 at low is just 20fps, when ditto same PCs on youtube give 40fps average at 1080P.
The trend of low performance is same with all games, NFS hot pursuit (2010) is barely running.

What could be the problem, my first guess is thermals, but they seem to be in check and I have also cleaned the PC and assembled it back, still same. Can anyone help?

^any chance your gfx is dying out??

coz I had similar problem with gtx 620

games that were running fine like pop or gta 4 would lag like hell.Sometimes there would be nasty glitches were screen would freeze or blackout.

Ultimately one day it died

if its in warranty try for RMA

Also check your hdd too

Is this the best router in 1-1.5k range? - http://www.amazon.in/dp/B0151AM5UG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1IUMB7OE1EJKY&coliid=I1KR9ROT7CRHRQ

My primary usage would be online gaming, youtube hd videos, chromecast.. Previously I had a netgear 150mbps router using which I had horrible performance with the chromecast.. Hence looking to upgrade to a 300mbps router..

Never heard about the company.

Plus, going from N150 -->N300 does not guarantee a performance up swing. You have to consider the range(s) at which you will be utilising devices, the physical barriers that the signal will have to move through.

Also, if you are going to game, try to get a direct LAN cable into your PC vis-á-vis wireless because you will be inducing packet loss everytime you use the latter.

I would recommend you look at the following router(s), TP-Link.

P.S. -- Do not fall for the multiple antennae variants, most of them are dummy units fixed in to make the unit look more expensive and contribute minimally to the actual performance of the product.

Thanks for the response..

I would be gaming on both PC n PS4.. So can't have LAN wires running around the house as pc n ps4 are in different rooms.. hence looking for a decent router..

The tenda one has 3 antennas of 5dBi signal strength so was hoping to get maximum coverage.. But the TP-Link seems like a better brand though it has only 2 antennas..

^ Depends on the coverage you require, if there are any barriers et al.

Hmm.. Did some more research and finally bought the tp-link 300mbps one which you suggested.. Also there was a small offer on it today..

There was a d-link AC router for 1.8k but read that there will be 2 wireless signals for it.. one in 2.4GHz band and other in 5GHz band.. Combined speed will be around 750mbps theoretically.. But reviews were not too great for it..

I'm mainly concerned with the data transfer speed over wi-fi.. Since if I stream a 1080p movie from laptop/tablet/pc to my TV via chromecast, I don't want any lag..

Lets see how it goes..
