Guys the new UPS APC 800 is not giving back up and is immediately switching off the system..What might be the reasons?

Note:

-I did switch the main power/switch off , might that be the issue? Does that make the battery not retain charge?

-And it is necessary to switch off the PSU power switch as well after use?

-Was using a dongle which remained on even after switching off the UPS, is that possible?

^ Did you put it for an over-night charge cycle on purchase?

  • Main power, from the socket I take it.
  • PSU or UPS? You do not have to switch of the PSU every-time.
  • That means, power is being leaked, this can be explained by two things. Either your PSU has some residual charge in it that sustains the dongle or alternatively something is up with your wiring.

Thanks for the response mate..

Browsed and found out that I connected the CPU in the wrong plug [surge protection only] and not on Battery+Surge protection..Now changed and checked it back to normal..

I'm not sure where to ask this, so here it is anyway.

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on PC gaming? How does Steam work? Can we buy and play almost every game from Steam(something like PSN) or is there a need to use different clients(for eg. different for FIFA (EA), Bethesda, etc)? How are games installed and managed? Are games linked to an account? I'm thinking of at least creating a Steam account on my laptop.

Answers sequentially,

  • STEAM is a client, you download it, install it, create an account and you are done. No payment for anything except buying games and redeeming them on STEAM. You can purchase game(s) from three providers,
    • STEAM itself runs a store, purchase from them
    • Purchase a digital copy from a site like Amazon (.co, .co.uk, .de) or HumbleBundle and redeem it on STEAM
    • Buy a physical copy of the game, redeem on STEAM
  • 90% of your games will be on STEAM, UBISOFT and EA being the only outliers with their own UPlay! and ORIGIN clients respectively but again, just download and create an account. No need to pay any subscription fees to them to maintain your account.
  • GoG Galaxy is the only other client worth import if you want to purchase really old games (1990's) and play them on modern OS's.
  • Games are installed as standard programmes on your hard-drive, you can back-up and copy any data associated. Most PC clients sync save data at some level with their cloud servers, so you can access the same world state on different platforms. Certain clients like GoG do not do any of this stuff and you cannot create a back up of the game(s) installed.

For all things STEAM, we have a dedicated thread here.

Easy choice. Swans M10. They are very good and hard to find. From where are you getting it?

If you can extend your budget a little more, look for Wharfedale, Polk Audio, Monitor, Audioengine, Klipsch, etc,

Wharfedale Diamond 210 / 220.
Audioengine A2 / A2+.
Q Acoustics 2010i.

Logitech speakers ain't really good. The quality is just bad.

The Swans from ebay, I wouldnt mind trying them out, would they punchy for gaming and movies? The other speakers you mentioned Wharefedales arent active, are they? Well, I was quite happy with my z2300s, guess I am no audiophile.

Go for Z623

I have for for the past 2 years

bang for the buck

No 2.1 setup will come even close to these @10k range

Those are the successor to the z-2300, just wanted to know if the Swans will have similar output, like the fact that they have a smaller form factor too.

By cpu, you mean just the processor or processor+mobo+ram+psu+cabinet?

If only the processor, then in 9k you have a lot of options.. Like Intel's i3 or AMD's FX 4core series..

But if you want the whole processor+mobo+psu+cabinet combo under 9k, it will be tough but possible..

Get Intel's G series processor (around 4.5k) + cheap h81 mobo (2k) + 4gb ram (1k) + zebronics/intex cabinet-psu combo (800)..

But do note that the reliability of such a setup would be very low since the psu and mobo might give up any moment if stressed out..

Intel Core i5 6600k

ASUS H170 PRO GAMING
SAMSUNG 850 EVO 500GB SSD (boot drive)

Western Digital Red Edition 2TB drive (or more depending on how much data you want to risk dumping on a single drive)

Cooler Master V650W SMPS

Phanteks Enthoo PRO M or Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5

Can anyone guide me how to update and clean install win 10 OS..My primary concern is taking the backup for clean installation..There are couple of options i don't know which to pick. There r no proper vid tutorial

Should i click the "windows icon" on taskbar and choose "First download, then upgrade option" so that once the download completes i can use "media creation tool" and take backup.

Or

Should i directly go to "Media Creation Tool" and tick "Create installation media for another PC" and it downloads and puts it on disc or USB..

My fear is that it shouldn't start upgrading automatically.Though i have set the option in Settings to "Ask for updates to download and install" but win is so unpredictable..

^ Download and create an installation media, USB is preferrable because of the speed it offers. Media Creation Tool is the best method to use, if that does not work, create bootable media by downloading a Windows 10 ISO and mounting it on a pen-drive using the Rufus utility.

Then simply back-up whatever you want, uninstall whatever you do not want. Remove all drives apart from the one on which you want to create the boot partition.

  • Stick in the USB drive
  • restart your PC
  • change the boot order to boot from USB drive (from BIOS / UEFI)
  • boot from the USB drive
  • select fresh install of Windows 10
  • format the partitions on your HDD / SSD, install Windows
  • finish installation
  • shut-down the PC
  • remove the USB drive, plug-in the other HDD's / SSD's
  • go into BIOS / UEFI, correct your boot order

Reinstall the rest of your stuff and restore backed up files.

Thanks for this detailed explanation..Another thing i wanted to ask was, during my official win 8.1 pro copy installation my bios was changed from legacy mode to UEFI (and curently its as that) i believe cause before this i didn't have a legit copy.Do i need to do any such changes while installing win 10.

Also, in media creation tool..there are 3 options for win 10..Win 10, win 10 home single language and Win 10 N...I guess Win 10 = Win 10 Pro. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Guys, how do you clean your PCs?

I intend to follow a friend's advice and get one of these...

uiFos5R.jpg

Although might just get one locally coz online prices seem to be exorbitant.

What do you guys think? Seems like a perfect cleaning tool for blowing all that dirt away every 10 days or so :)

If you are in UEFI mode, keep yourself in that state. It is better, you will only have to tweak settings if you are forced to use Rufus, check the earlier link for those details.

Windows 10 is Windows 10 Pro, yes.

Guys, how do you clean your PCs?

I use this, once in three-six months.
