Keep us posted.

I would have simply removed a single hard-drive and tried to see if the PC booted in that state instead of reinstalling Windows.

I am quite a noob at these things.

Still its getting installed.

I ll try the removal of the hdd, probably once the os gets installed and doesnt work out.

Also never really removed and hdd. Never even opened a cpu myself to do anything.

I guess the os installation might take atleast some 45 minutes more maybe c63de22829b6ada6cacf23b65a88566b.jpg

Ya reinstalling windows is a pain. Takes around 7-10 hours if using normal HDD.

7-10 hours?

This is the very first time it is taking me soo long.

Last time it was certainly less than an hour.

In my old p4 machine it used to take some 1 and half hours and nothing more.

If you use normal HDD. SSD obviously faster. And fresh install. It takes that much time. For 1st time setup. Else it takes 2 hours or less.

Download HDDSentinel and look up the health of your drive. I think bad sectors if not something worse.

Why so many partitions though.. The more the partitions on same drive, the more capacity you lose..

I prefer single partition on a single drive and just creating different folders to organize my data..

One is a 500gb hdd which dates back years.

And the other is a 1tb which is a few years old.

I try to make it messy if kept on a single partition. Hence I keep a bit lot of partitions to use it easily for me :D

You know, to segregate data and wall it off in-case of having to format / wipe / clear and to reclaim some space instead of having to constantly worry about losing everything in-case Windows takes a dump or your system gets infected or you just need to save data.

Single partitions are only recommendable if all you are going to do is dump data into the drive (like externals).

Windows 10 update downloaded on its own and gave the option of update and shutdown , so did that..It downloaded 30% and shut down on its own..Today mom started the PC without connecting to internet and the download or installation whatever was pending didnt happen and the PC now is acting weird..

-Start menu is not responding when ever pressed and it comes up randomly..

-No icon in the start menu works.

-Unable to get the windows update to recover or re download it..

-Using command prompt as admin to give the update command does nothing

-Pressing ctrl+alt+del gives a black screen, Had to press esc every time to come back to the main screen..

-Windows update trouble shoot aint helping as well, it finds that as an issue but doesnt work and is just there on the resolving problem screen..

-Settings from anywhere wont work..

Help required on this..

Yes in such situations, having separate partitions for data & OS would be helpful..

I remember during college days, I would format my laptop almost every 2 months due to one problem or another.. But back then, everything I used to run was pirated..

In the last few years, using authentic windows 7, kaspersky and open source apps for all other stuff, I don't even remember when I last formatted by desktop PC.. I think may be it was last when I added the SSD 2 years ago..

Even the win 7 to win 10 upgrade was super smooth and I retained all my data and settings..

Kaspersky has been doing a great job so far to keep my system virus free..

AMD RYZEN 5 will launch on April 11. Price starts $169.

Let the price guessing game begin!

http://www.legitreviews.com/amd-ryzen-5-processors-start-at-169-at-launch-on-april-11th_192763

No need to guess prices as cpu don't attract huge tax so

R5 1400 - 12k

R5 1500x - 13k

R5 1600 - 15k

R5 1600X - 17k

Update!

After installing hddsentinal

I think it is marking the partitions which are causing issue, so what is the S.M.A.R.T. status of your drive according to the application?
