Pyrotek
I have to ask, what with the Geforce 8 series cards costing what they are, say that a budget gamer out there is trying to build a good rig for about 30k ( only the CPU), he'll have his hands full. Yeah, the ATI Radeon HD 3870 isn't a 8800, but its a heck of a lot cheaper. I was given a quote of 6k for this card. How do you guys rate this card. and a crossfire setup of the same? Budget constraints on a high scale should tilt your balance to 3870 or else stay away from it.
AlanVivek
HD4850 is going to hit our shores on 27th June Hope it retains its VFM as it is in USA unless they blow the price up early reviews show its better than 9800GTX in most aspects P>S.-Whats the current price of 9800GTX in Bangalore Edited June 25, 2008 by Vivek117
AtheK
18500 Odd for a 9800 GTX. Yes as of now 4850 looks a good deal i think it will cost around 14k here.
ЯeVeЯse
The SSC version of the EVGA 9800GTX is listed at around 19k on ITWares, however this is the factory overclocked version so I'd assume the standard versions will be considerably cheaper. 10.5k-11.5k for the HD 4850 would be incredible imo. And Pyrotek, HD 3870 is still a good card and will perform great in most games out now @ reasonably high settings. However, considering the HD 4850 is a better performer, I'd suggest you wait for the official Indian price and make your decision. If you're getting the HD 3870 for 6k, it's a steal. I wouldn't expect the HD 4850 to come in for anything less than 12-13k. Taking into account you're saving 50%+, it isn't a bad purchase at all. Also, something nVidia fans might find interesting - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119157
AtheK
i have used the above cabinet but then i shifted to antec gamer. I think antec gamer is one of the best Cabinet for overclocking and stuff. The 220 mm fan on top is awesome and add 3 more two in from and one in rear keeps system real cool. and as for 4850 if they can keep it below 12k it will make a great market here
AlanVivek
It means that the price cut on 9800GTX hasnt reflected here ( its early to say though) When HD3850 was released last year its price was around 10.5k to 13k P.S. which is the best processor i can get for around 7k? Do wolfdale processors run on 945G chipsets
ЯeVeЯse
Antec 900 is a great case, but this one is good for air cooling too. It has 4x slots for 120MM fans. I personally like the look of the NZXT Tempest. I don't think it's available here though, but other NZXT cases are available @ ITWares. Hopefully the Tempest comes here too. P.S. which is the best processor i can get for around 7k? Do wolfdale processors run on 945G chipsets It's possible, I guess. This article on Anandtech states that certain 945GC motherboards support Wolfdale CPU's with BIOS updates. If you're in the market for an Intel Core2Duo, the best buy right now is E7200. If you want higher clock speed, E8400. The E8400 is a bit out of your budget of 7k, though. So E7200 seems to be your best bet. BTW, the E7200 is for 5.9k @ ITWares, so expect the price to be around there when you get it from somewhere in locality. ЯeVeЯse
Yeah I'm pretty impressed with the 6k tag for the HD 3870 too. It's 159$ on NewEgg, so that's a pretty great buy. BTW, are the new G.Skills with the Pi heatspreaders available locally?

ЯeVeЯse
^Yes. I thought the the 945G and the 945GC were the same, turns out they're not. So sorry Vivek, guess you're gonna have to upgrade your mobo if you want to go Wolfdale.

AtheK
Awesome the 4870X2 gets better of 280 and at a cheaper price. Way to go ATI. It was long overdue from ATI off late they were being beaten black and blue. Will be interesting how Nvidia responds cos usually they always have an ACE up there sleeves. Early Price cut of GT280 maybe maybe not.... Till then bask in Glory ATI you deserve a bit of space on top lets see how long you stay there.
