For BSNL BB...

is it really necessary that we should have a static IP for port forwarding and getting speeds like 220KB/s ??...

I used to be on static..but suddenly the network diagnose shows DNS server not correct..so i switched back to Dynamic..and opened the port....

any advise???

BTW was in Nehru place today (bought a modem) and the 4870 (512MB version) is selling for 10.5K. I am seriously tempted to upgrade. How much do you guys think I could get for my 8800GTS (320MB), 1.5 years old and has warranty.

Ya, but will that be an overkill for what i want?

BTW has anyone tried using the mobo optical to A/V receiver? Howz the sound?

Im in 2 minds about buying a new mobo with optical or a sound card. The gigabyte mobos seem to have blu-ray support for audio, that i could channel through toslink?

asus Xonar DX .. amazing card for its price .. you can find it for 3.7to 4k .. check out its review at techenclave.com

I was thinking of downloading

crysis 1 demo

but i'm not sure if it will run. COD4 was the last game i ran on my PC.

Here are the specs

System:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254)

Processor: Intel® Pentium® M processor 1.86GHz

Memory: 510MB RAM

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Display:

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6400

Display Memory: 128.0 MB

If it works then i will get the full game but before that i have to ensure that the demo will work

:chair:

Not worth it. Even if it works (and thats a very slim if) it wont be playable. It would be at best a powerpoint presentation.

My advice with a PC/laptop like that is to get into either RTS or RPGs. Or games released pre 2006. Catch up on some old PC games. If you look past the dated graphics there are some absolute stunners you can play.

Crysis worked ... but the frame rate was not consistent and also there were times when the game froze for a sec then picked up. The loading time for the first level so abt 15-10 mins.... :)

So i dont think its worth it to get Crysis and run it on my PC
