Hitzzz
As you mobo's ethernet port is burned out and you are planing to buy a wireless adsl2+ router. If I would at your position I would use a Internal Wireless Pci express adaptor (pci express is just for your information you can choose whichever fits in your budget.) and D-Link Wireless N 300 ADSL2+ 4-port Ethernet Router with USB (DSL-2750U) after that there would be no chances for burning any component at least with lightning strike. LaZyVigiLaNtE
k..just a suggestion but before you go shopping for routers and n/w components, why don't you get a good spike./surge protector first? Dunno abt lightning but I'm no stranger to current/voltage fluctuations affecting hardware. I burnt my laptop adapter because of a short-circuit caused by improper grounding and a poor electrical layout overall. At the time my PS3 was connected too but was saved by (I assume) a belkin surge protector which burned and spit smoke. Get a surge protector and plug it into the wall socket, then as an extra measure plug it into the UPS (I assume you got one as u're on a PC). Most UPSs today have in-built surge/spike protection mechanisms. Or you can try plugging in two surge protectors in series - though I've read it doesn't help matters much...whatever the setup, do invest on some gear to shield your system(s) against spikes mate. Good luck.

I have a surge protector along with a ups and that's the only reason I think my pc is safe. The modem was not connected to the protector so it went down burning only the Ethernet port of my pc.
