KWC
N8 still uses Symbian ^3. In other words, its still years behind Apple OS and Android. Nokia needs to get a new CEO!
dante77
OK Guys, since my plans for the Samsung Spica got destroyed, i've now set my eye on the HTC wildfire.. Yay or Nay and why?? Yay
Shantz
You can have push mail on any account on POP3/IMAP,MS Exchange or Lotus Domino. There is a native email client to do this(not sure if the native app can handle all protocols) as well as free and premium apps with better functionality: Seven Mail K9 Mail nopes.. you can't have push mail if the server doesn't support it. Pop3/Imap servers generally don't support it so they are poll based only. No idea about Lotus Domino.
El Tigre Chino
OK Guys, since my plans for the Samsung Spica got destroyed, i've now set my eye on the HTC wildfire.. Yay or Nay and why?? Between the Spica and Wildfire Pros: The Wildfire has multi touch, A LOT more ram, FM Radio, 5Mp camera with flash. Sense UI Cons: Has a weaker porccy (520 Something..Mhz The Spica has a 800Mhz), Lower screen resolution(240x320 .. The Spica has 320x480), The phone laggs a bit The Wildfire is probably the best piece to go for after the Spica, I'm gonna wait a bit before getting a new phone though.. thanks, i have a few more questions i saw htc touch 2, slightly cheaper ? is that good enough phone? or u would still recommend me the wildfire i also found out about google navigation on android phones, will it work on wildfire? what about games, will they run smoothly? can any1 recommend me a good reliable dealer in mumbai? do i have to worry about imported/software unlocked/factory unlocked phones here... sorry for the so many questions, i have never purchased and HTC or android phone before The Touch 2 uses Windows mobile, so you wont have the huge App market Android users enjoy. Other than that the Touch 2 and Wildfire are quite similar. Pretty sure the Navigation works on the Wildfire, no idea bout the games. To be honest i'm not too fond of the Wildfire, but like i said earlier its the best and cheapest Android based phone available in the market atm. theneurotoxin
My understanding is that the app sits in between the mail server and the mobile device, polling the mail server and pushing the mail to the mobile device. The app I mentioned(Seven Mail) clearly mentions push support for a number of protocols including:Exchange, Yahoo, HoTMaiL, POP3, IMAP. They have introduced another server component in between so basically your passwords and your email etc are being stored on their servers. I wouldn't like that at all.. Edit: Plus this is still not "true" push mail as I'm sure their servers will have some limit to how frequently they can poll your email accounts. It would be difficult for any company to have servers that poll thousands (maybe much more) email accounts every few seconds..it would be better to use polling from your phone at regular intervals than give up your security and still not have true push mail Edited July 28, 2010 by Shantz

Solitaire
Had been using an old 3500c and got my N79 from Nokia Care yesterday. They sent it all the way to Delhi to rectify some Bluetooth issue. And they were even nice enough to replace the front panel's metal rim cos it had been scratched and the phone keypad which had had some fading and even replaced the USB cover which had fallen off All within the Nokia Care Protect 1 year warranty extension

Death Stryke
Oh well, the indian govt is hellbent on banning BB Hope nothing happens.
Superfrag
Doubt anything will really happen.. Maye, just maybe RIM will cave in a little bit.. Not fully.
Death Stryke
Hope so. The issue is the security monitoring which right now the govt is not able to do. So they are asking RIM to present data in a readable format. I hope they do. BB's servers are a blessing! Or I have to resort to Nokia's push mail service

Death Stryke
The Indian Intelligence Agencies are so incompetent? They want to ban BB just because they dont know how to monitor their highly encrypted emails, which is the USP of the BB service and why its chosen by corporates worldwidde!! Highly irritating turn of events! Edited July 29, 2010 by Death Stryke

TRMNTR
Guys, what's the best phone in the price range 6-9K? It should have a decent Music Player and Camera. Till now, I have the following in mind... Samsung Star Wifi Nokia 5235 Express Music Nokia E63 Need some quick suggestions. Thanks.
theneurotoxin
Corby series from Samsung.
TRMNTR
Isn't Star better than Corby? Also, do you have any idea about the apps for the Samsung phones? At least with the E63, you have decent apps.
theneurotoxin
You will only have generic JAVA apps with the Samsung. Can't comment on the E63. Corby has a number of models catering to different specs and star is a slightly older model I think. I think Lindy is the latest corby phone.
