Hey everybody.Need some help.

Actually i have been selected for pursuing Orthopaedics at KEM hospital,mumbai.The PG course is for 3 years and the session starts on 2nd may.

The duties are very strict and most of my time will be spent,away from the comforts of my hostel room,in the hospital wards.My only means of entertainment can be anything portable.{no tablets,pads and devices bigger than 7 "}

Option A: I buy a high end smartphone.Now,should i wait for galaxy s2 or desire hd2 to arrive in india.I can wait,at the most,till june end.Budget is under 30k.My priorities :effecient web browsing{3g},movie playback.

Option B: I buy a smartphone for under 20k and get a NGP(hopefully under 20k) in november.Will NGP be launched in india on time ?And will it support web browsing and movie playback ?

Option C: I also came to know about tegra 2 phones from this thread.Will they suit my needs better.

^ Thanks everyone for your generous replies. :)

I am willing to spend 20k + 20k on two devices with some time gap in between and not 30k plus on a single device(as of now).I mean iphone 4 cannot match up to NGP to satisfy my gaming needs.Or can it ?

Of whatever i have seen of NGP,it has mighty cool graphics.But i want to know the chances of it being launched in India this year.And whether it can do web browsing and movie playback ?

And nothing is restricted in the hospital as such.But i would prefer portable devices that can fit into my pocket over those freakin' huge tablets that i can lose easily.

No idea when will NGP launch here. Though you should also remember that the titles would be costlier than the iOS store games. Plus I wouldn't bet on homebrewing the NGP seeing how it took more than 3-4 years for PS3 to get broken, and that was also due to Sony's mistake. I'm pretty sure Sony would be more careful wrt NGP's security.

The chip used in the USB sticks suck. :/

It also depends on the technology used. As I mentioned in some other thread, 3G in itself is not a technology, it is a set of specifications that many technologies conform to. Most of the USB 3G sticks based 3G out there is based on EvDo with a max downlink of around 3mbps compared to the 21mbps of the HSPA networks in use for phones. Also, there are much more users of USB 3G out there and it also suffers from mcuh less "towers" in the cities compared to the phone networks' towers so coverage isn't optimal (more distance from the towers) and more users bunched up sharing the same bandwidth.

I didn't know the USB sticks used EVDO... I thought they used UMTS. :|

It depends.. I said most of them use EVDO...There are a few now that use HSPA as well (e.g. airtel has one)..But if you are using one from tata/reliance (which have the biggest marketshare right now), they are surely evdo. Not very sure about BSNL, but I think their USB devices use EVDO as well..

Separate towers for USB sticks? Why?
