No. I kill it, relaunch it and same thing again.

I'm using an iPad 2. so probably that's why.

 Hmm... weird. I think I've had that issue with a couple of apps a few times, but killing the app and relaunching it fixed it for me.

If you guys want I can recreate it on my iPad.

Normally it happens after an hour of surfing but after a clean reboot if I start a browser based game like Lord Of Ultima, it will close in 5 minutes tops.

err say what? So, they don't know which background app you might need to use in future so it is good that they kill the one that you are using right now? lol.

There are several ways to determine which app to evict. Simplest way is to use a LRU policy.

I think there's unnecessary confusion about this. When the suspended state multi-tasking was announced, I remember Jobs or Forstall mentioned that the app which is last in the RAM stack or the earliest launched app which was still in the RAM will be killed and it will have some small time (a few seconds) to save its state before it is killed.

They don't kill the active app, they just do not allow you to launch it.

I don't understand this. Never happened with me. Is it a problem with some particular app?

Still stupid IMO. They are stopping you from using an app that you want to use now instead of evicting an older app that you no longer need, even though they have conditioned iOS users to not expect their previous apps to be running in BG.

That said, I've not come across this so far (or maybe I have? I see very often youtube getting stuck on my iPad and wifey's iPhone 5. It launches but doesn't do anything. Need to reboot to get it to work).

Weird. I don't use the YouTube app. Does any other app show similar behaviour?

So I perhaps come from the grandfather Era, Seriously, Expensive calls (Incoming and Outgoing) And text messaging was absolutely FREE!

Got my first phone after 10th, This is what dad gave me, and trust me I thought it had more cool factor than any other phone till date, considering time and age,

Nokia 8110

nokia81103.jpg

This Was replaced by this

Nokia 9110, I still remember paying some crazy amount much more than what one pays for even a 64GB iPhone, I think it was a shop towards the middle lane in Heera Panna,

Nokia-91101.jpg

Next Phone was something I think I did show off a lot back in college days, Nokia 8810, Brilliant stuff,

nokia_8810_1.jpg

Next was a Ericsson T68, Damn was the first time I used GPRS and god alone knows what I did with it on that phone, funny part was it had a camera attachment too, but you had to buy it separately, Also I think this was the last Ericsson phone before it merged with Sony, (not too sure on this)

ert68_00.jpg

After that was back to Nokia in a short time, it was the Nokia 8910, it lacked the color screen but had this crazy mechanism where you pressed the 2 buttons on the side and the phone came out, I seriously believe we lack the kind of quality these phones had in a particular way,

no8910_00.jpg

nokia8910_415-299x375.jpg

Next up had two firsts, My first time I started carrying 2 Cell phones, and also my first smart phone, Sony Ericsson P800, was wonderful unboxing it, had a stylus that held onto the side, had a removable keypad a nice dock, and the first time I opened www.porsche.de on a phone. Yeah! It was that exciting!

p800.jpg

The 8910 was replaced by Nokia 8800, had various editions of this including a black one etc.

nokia-8800-combo.jpg

Also the P800 was replaced in sometime with a non smart but still something I loved, W880

sony-ericsson-w880i-combo.jpg

Which I later Swapped with W890, a minor upgrade but still the same old wonderful thin awesome phone, Lovely phone only issue was the chargers had weird pins, always broke them. Had 2 of them got one when it was discontinued,

Sony-Ericcson-W890i-925077739-4193193-2.

My only phone I ever lost, sad part is it was the only gadget I got from dad as a birthday gift, Vertu Ascent Ti, Lost it at a public phone in Vegas! :( Honestly speaking there was little to like, and all it did was bring wrong attention, but yeah was cool stuff to hold,

vertu-ascent-ti-00.jpg

Then sometime in late 2011 as late as I was came my first smartphone, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, and honestly speaking since then have lost interest in phones, am not so fond of Smartphones in general, don't know they just lack any form of passion, design elements, etc. all one sees now is a large screen with the frame arranged in different manner etc. Maybe I am old, but would love it if any of these companies got back to making a high end Nokia 8000 Series phones, maybe I am in a small niche, but I still think there are more out there. I still am looking for a sealed Nokia 8800 Scirroco edition (Black) Or perhaps a W890i, but all ebay sellers wanna try rip you off.

gsmarena_010.jpg

Replaced that with a S3, and then got a Blackberry 9790 (The worst phone I ever have used) and now am on a iPhone 5. Will get the S4 or HTC One when they come out.

Trust me, that was a basic model, I think MSRP was around 7k USD, but knowing my dad I'm sure he negotiated till the guy was annoyed enough to give it for nothing, but yes like I said there was nothing worth it, even the concierge service is / was just ok, a lot is spoken about them on the net but trust me google is better at anything and everything those people do, I am sure there are others here who have had it or still have it can give better opinions,

Like I said only sad part was considering dad gifted it, but then heck it's in Vegas, lol. But the Ferrari editions are pretty really,

Holy sh*t you owned a vertu? how much did that cost? I am sure it would be more costly than all of your phones combined!

lol I need to find myself a Filthy Rich dad, but really my Guju dad getting me that phone was a shocker, 8910 was real neat, I remember the first time I saw it in real was in 'Champs' a old sports bar in the Oberoi, and a Firang walked in with it, and damn counted days till I got it,

Ya was discussing the same with sixthsense today, would have loved to owned it. I started buying my phone after I passed out of college in 2003 and was always short of cash :P

Great choice of phones just like your car, except not sure how did you end up buying samsung plastic...

lol, Honestly got the plastic and sold it before the wind even touched me, am looking ahead for the ONE or S4, Plastic again but I am assuming it's the best of the rest? Like I said mate Smartphones just do not appeal to me, be it Plastic or anything just don't find my heart going for one, so S4 or iPhone or whatever else it's all just a slab of screen for me, and stick to that which works best for me and as of now have little to complain about the iPhone 5 besides the fact that every time I drop it it leaves a few dings all over, and I refuse to use a bumper / cover.

And talking about plastic somewhere in that list I had the Reliance CDMA White phone, can't even remember the name but I remember using it for data all the time while traveling had to connect a cable and do it, was some crazy phone worked for 3-4 years, super basic samsung,

:ack: reading your post about you coming from the grandfather era, I thought you'd be like 50 :P

The modern phones may not be too exciting physically, but they are so much more beautiful in terms of software and functionality.

Yup. It's their flagship. They're trying to streamline their naming again (they tried to start doing it with the One X, but just ended up not following through).
