how to restore contacts backup of S2 to Xperia Z?

How was the backup taken?

By default they are in the google account cloud. Add the same account in the new phone. Done.

I added the account in my Xperia but it only imported some contacts maybe because only those were synced.

 

I backed up my S2 contacts using Kies and i have the contact file "Contacts001.spb"

yup and if not done set the contacts sync to on.

I tried copying the .spb file to memory card and then putting in Xperia but when i try to import contacts it gives me an error than only .vcf file can be read. If there any way I can convert .spb file to vcf and import my contacts?

Also , always use Google sync , never ever lose any contacts , its the best.

or just mail the file to a friend who has samsung, upload the contacts on his phone, sign with your account and sync to google and then return the samsung phone to friend. Need a good understanding friend for this though

to be honest why did you turn of syn contact in the first place. BC google account and cloud support is the numero uno feature of Android.

^^ people who know what the cloud features are do use them well. But there are many who do not even know what sync is used for actually. All they know is that google sync battery khata hain aur Internet use karta hain

i dont have old phone anymore so how the hell do i open .spb file in Kies ? :confused:

good idea i'll try it but with who maybe i'll just take some local friend's phone for 5-10 minutes

it was my dad's contacts and he told me to take a backup so in his new phone he can have all the contacts now he's gonna beat my a*s if he loses his contacts :|

Dunno abt 2G, but it lasts for around 10 hrs with 3G on.
