I recommend the s3. If he cribs about having to buy a 1.5 yr old phone, ask him to bump up the budget and buy a One.

Bumping up the budget is out of question for him. I think the s3 or nexus 4 is the right option. He was gonna buy my note 2, but he took too long to arrange funds so I sold it elsewhere. So I feel obliged to atleast suggest a decent phone to him

SAMSUNG Galaxy S III if he is fine with the screen size.

Guys are suggesting S3 over N4, really? One of them will "probably" get 4.3 soon and that'll be the end of it while the other will get updates till next year Day 1.

Not to mention TouchPiss vs stock.

Reasons,

  • Budget inflexibility.
  • OP did not respond to XPERIA SP suggestion, favourably.

There is nothing else in that budget worth considering.

Damn! I almost bought Xperia Z1.

It's just stunningly beautiful. And the specs are amazing.

And freebies with it made it a no brainer.

But then I looked through the XDA forum.

The camera is pretty bad it seems and people are waiting for a software update to get it fixed.

And even with 3000 Mah, the battery life is mediocre.

These were the two things I was excited about the phone and Sony clusterf*ked both of them.

camera is not "pretty bad" from what I read and the pics that I have seen, it is just not "oh so awesome Lumia"

Also almost all phones need a night charge after a full day, and all reviews have said that it will easily last one full day even on a very high usage scenario
