Anyone got iphone 15 plus here?

Just need some basic review if it's got any issues and how's the experience so far.

Got it a couple of days ago. No issues tbh. Let me know if you’ve any questions.

Great.

Do you recommend it?

From where you bought it?

Exchanged any phone?

Whats the deal you got?

How's the battery life and camera improvements?

Dynamic island useful in day to day or just for aesthetic?

Which case and screen guard?

Any other differences from your previous phone?

Any cons?

1) Yes. I’ve a 14PM. 15 Plus is for mom. Size is same. Plus is primary for better battery vs the normal 15. New series feels more premium in hand, with decent camera updates, dynamic island, and matching the same processor as 14 Pro line. It’s a pretty good YoY update (better than what Pro models got IMO).

2) Croma. 128 GB. 5000 instant discount with HDFC card. No phone exchanged. But certain stores have tie up with Cashify to get additional discounts when selling your current phone for iPhone (like Aptronix and bunch of Apple Premium resellers).

3) Battery life is pretty insane. Just been 2 days so cannot comment long term, but it’s keeping much better than my 14PM (which is a year old now). Mom didn’t find a need to charge it in 2 days after we got it to 100% couple of days ago.

4) Visible camera improvements since the default mode gives you 24 MP pics (compared to 13 and 12 base models. Don’t have base 14 to compare). Pics now capture depth information for almost all photos, so you don’t need to click separate portrait mode pics (this is infact better than 14 Pro models too).

5) I love dynamic island for day to day use. Stuff just lives at the top of it screen with minimal display, just giving you the ideal information at a glance. Apps like Zomato, Swiggy, some flight apps etc make great use of it, indicating drop off time, changing icons when order is getting prepared, when rider picked up etc. 2 apps can live on the island at the same time, so you can glance information of say a timer and music playing at the same time, and control both from the island itself. It’s very cool. One of the reasons I went with 15 and not 14 Plus for mom.

6) Wanted a non yellowing transparent case, and there’s nothing else except Apple’s original. All other cases including Spigen, ESR etc will yellow in a few weeks to months. I’ve spent a f**kton on these transparent cases and nothing works since their sides are made of TPU. Only PC cases will not yellow, and that’s the Apple transparent case. The power button is a tad hard to press with Apple’s case. For non transparent cases, sky is the limit.

7) Spigen or ESR tempered glasses have worked wonderfully on all phones I’ve used. Easy to apply. Minimal bubbles.

8 Just be aware of the size of Plus models - they are not one handed phones. Else I don’t have anything to complain about.

@Bird Bird BirdCheck Dbrand's Ghost line for transparent cases that will never turn yellow. They promise that you might reach an age that you end up dying, but their cases won't turn yellow.

It's only for the Pro models, apparently.

As you said, only for Pro. And same price as Apple’s original transparent case. Plus customs. Makes no sense in India.
Also Dbrand cases are generally bulky.

What’s your battery maximum capacity now? Check in battery health & charging in settings

88%. :nerves:
14 Pros have terrible battery capacity IMO. Although I don’t have optimised charging enabled since my time schedules vary a lot. Not concerned too much as I’ve AC+, so if battery hits <80%, will get it replaced for free. The 15 series does gives option to charge only till 80%. Not sure if I should get AC+ for 15 Plus.

I have 14P bought 1 year ago at 94% right now touchwood it lasts long I hope. I’ll buy AC+ once it touches 85% for that free battery replacement

how to maximize battery health? Not allow it to drop below 20% and not charge above 80%?

Correct or atleast an approximate of that. Also try not to charge the phone willy nilly. The batteries on 14 series are good enough to last 1.5 days with moderate use. Mine is at 98% after a year.

Thinking of buying a magsafe charger but heard that wireless charging degrades battery faster thus not pulling a plug on that yet.

Which charger do you use? 5W slow charger or 20W fast charger?

You can only buy AC+ within 60 days of purchase.

A normal battery replacement then

It’s a non-issue tbh.

Been using only Magsafe from 2 years and the battery wear is pretty much the same as it was before.

Magsafe is one of the main reasons I don’t switch to android.

The ESR car mount + charger is a lifesaver. It’s too damn convenient

The biggest contributor to battery wear is usage.
Less usage = less charge cycles, less wear on battery.
And vice versa.

I’ve been thinking of this (car has a low W built in wireless charger - too damn slow tbh), but can’t do wireless CarPlay unfortunately.
I think wired CarPlay has added to battery wear and tear as it gets charged willy nilly. However, Apple really needs to up the cooling game. They shouldn’t expect consumers to change use patterns depending on risk to battery capacity.

True. Apple has pretty much given up on making meaningful updates to magsafe.

Btw, this ESR car mount comes with a built-in cooling fan that turns on when you slap your phone to the charger. :D
It works very well and phone never gets hot.

I use Magsafe with my Android phone (Pixel 6 + ESR case mount).

But yeah, I agree. The convenience is amazing. Thankfully, Apple is making the Magsafe tech available for all so, soon all phones can support Magsafe if they want to.
