DinJo Posted March 14, 2010 Report Share Posted March 14, 2010 Well, having completed it, I can truly say that this game is to the PS3 what GoW2 was to the PS2. A title that crowns the system and defines it. One of the best action games you'll play. Â On a comparison basis, Â Combat system: Bayonetta still has the best fighting combat system of any game to date including GoW3. But the brutality and seriousness of GoW3 lend a much bigger effect to each and every move Kratos makes. Extremely satisfying. Â Visuals: Some of the levels look outstanding and the set pieces are phenomenal. The titans are the best part of the environment. But there is a certain inconsistency about the visuals. Kratos himself is one of the best modeled characters ever in a video game, but most of the supporting cast havent received the same loving attention to detail in their modeling. The lighting engine is gorgeous, but on a technical level, its certainly not the best in the industry. What works for it though, is the outstanding level design that plays to each and every strength of the technology powering the engine. I would still rate UC2 above GoW3 in the overall visual quality department, but its a close run thing between the two games. Â Gameplay: Brutal gratification. No other word to explain it. Some levels are a drag on pacing, but overall, tight, precise and satisfying. Controls are fantastic. Boss fights range for good to ZOMFG!!!! The Hercules has become one of my favorite boss fights in gaming for its sheer brutality in the finishing. But, you aint seen nothing in gaming like the Cronos boss fight. Â Audio: Excellent soundtrack, but doesnt break any new grounds. Not necessarily a bad thing considering how good the previous two games' soundtracks were. Â some hype needs to be burst before the game...........else due to the excess hype we don't enjoy the game as much as we would've enjoyed............ They rate games on the entire 10 point scale, as opposed to other reviewers where the scale starts at 5. For Edge, 5 is actually average (FF13) and 8 means the game it's outstanding. Very very few games get a 9 and they are universally acclaimed. The metascore is just a number - read the review and see if you think it's fair after playing the game.
