cyclops Posted February 11, 2009 Report Share Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) God of War 3 details hit the Web, surprises lacking Scans from the latest issue of Game Informer have hit the Web, revealing an assortment of new information on God of War III. Unfortunately, none of it is all that surprising. Details inside. With Killzone 2 almost here, God of War III is the next big PlayStation 3 release for excitable fans interested in exclusive titles. The latest issue of Game Informer has a cover story on the game featuring all sorts of new details and, of course, scans have already hit the Web. The low-quality scans contain some new info, including the following: * Kratos will be battling plenty more foes, with as many as 50 enemies on screen at a time, as opposed to the max of 15 found in previous games. * He also has a new ability that allows him to "control" certain monsters. * There will be much more differentiation between the weapons, allowing for more variety in combat. * Enemies will have improved AI, and will also feature much more visual variety. * There will be more boss fights as compared to the first game, but fewer than the second. * As per usual, there will be no multiplayer component. None of these facts seem at all surprising, as it looks like the developers are using the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of game design: making everything bigger and better, but not drastically different. It also looks like David Jaffe may have been right, as GOW3 looks like it will be a definite showcase for the PlayStation 3. The game's director Stig Asmussen was quoted in the article as saying "We want this to be the game that shows people what the PS3 can do." We should have even more information about GOW3 later this week, as an embargo from a recent press event lifts this Friday. The God of War series has always been a showcase for the power of the PS2, so it's exciting to think about what could be done on the PS3 hardware. This is one of the things I actually enjoyed in GOW 1, when I would switch from the big blade to the chain blades. In GOW2, I never used any of the other weapons as they felt clumsy to use.
