God Of War III Gameplay Looks Close To Beowulf Movie

If you haven't had the chance yet, we suggest taking the time to check it out before continuing with this news update. Go watch the God of War III debut trailer that was shown to the world for the first time during Sony's E3 press conference. ...done watching? Okay, now while it's obviously not gameplay, recent evidence says it ain't far off.

According to GameSpot's latest HotSpot podcast, SCEA's upcoming action extravaganza is lookin' pretty damn good. So good, in fact, that "the level of realism as far as the graphics go" appears "very close" to what we see in this CG trailer. This is taken from a number of inside sources, and it's even said that GoWIII actually looks a lot like "Beowulf," the CGI blockbuster movie from last year. Now, we don't know about you, but we find this news to be awfully encouraging. Of course, we've heard similar hype before, although we'd like to think this information comes from fairly reliable sources, even if we can't confirm them ourselves. There's certainly no doubt that God of War has pushed the visual envelope with every installment, be it on the PS2 or PSP, but now it's time to push the envelope on a much more advanced machine. It's our opinion that SCEA Santa Monica is up to the challenge, but only time will tell...

By the way, God of War III still holds an early March release date according to GameStop, but it may just be a placeholder date that doesn't mean anything. As far as Sony is concerned, it's still officially "TBA." We'll bring you more GoWIII news as soon as it becomes available.

From the new HotSpot podcast from GameSpot, they heard from various sources that "the level of realism as far as the graphics go in God of War 3" looks very close to the CG teaser like uncanny valley close. They said it's looking like Beowulf the movie. They talk about it 59 minutes into the podcast.

My BS meter just exploded. The day a game looks like Beowulf is the day I play every JRPG out there.

Yeah I heard the podcast where the guy said the actual game looks like CG trailer and close to Beowulf. And then the other guy said MGS4 has already set the bar high and even if GoW3 matches the looks and quality of MGS4, it'll be an achievement in itself.

Looks of MGS4 and GoW3 cant be compared and it will be a crime in itself if you do so...both are diff sorta games with a diff kind of settings and not to forget both are epic so no comparison MGS4 has already owned and GOW3 will follow its footstep.

Its all on The PS3.

Not really. It's a fair point and one thats bound to be raised. He can carry off the badass pissed-off mood just fine, so why not. Plus, hes genuinely BIG, no lame-o padding needed like the pale folks in 300. lol.

And we've got a white guy playing the prince of Persia, so...
