MarketTantrik
Gow 3 shd end with around 4-5 mill of sales, its not going to be ps3 highest selling software, Gran turismo 5 will be. Going by the track record of the first two titles on a much, much, much larger install base, I doubt that figure. A likely 18+ rating is almost certain and going by the ESRB's reaction to the gore in the demo, an AO is not out of the question, which means it will not be carried by major retailers like Walmart. There is no way they'll let it ship with a AO rating. They'll tone down the gore if required, which I doubt since he's not killing humans . Install base doesn't really matter, gow was a new ip and gow 2 released at the wrong time. You know an series is big when its psp counterpart makes the npd top
strategy
^^ Well for that matter PS2 was blessed with some very best games and ......PSP Â and yeah God of War will sell atleast 4 million!!
achilles
Neither of the first two GoW games feature in the top 10 PS2 sellers list and you chaps are already calling GoW3 the best selling PS3 title. MGS2 sold 7 million and that too because it was the first MGS game on the PS2 and carried a lot of hype about the graphics, similar to MGS4. GoW II couldnt come close to that inspite of being released so late into the PS2 life cycle and boasting next-gen quality graphics.  but both the GOW games have had excellent reviews universally. and have garnered a lot of fans as well. the point is, every sequel sells more (like mgs4) due to the hype and the collective fanbase of that franchise. sony does not need to let any stone unturned for mktg for this game. imo they've already slipped a bit on uc2. i mean mw2 comes a month after that and they have a lot more hype riding that title. more hype would be there since it is mw2 but uc2 seems alomst like the outstanding student who nobody knew cz he wasnt present on facebook. Not true in every case. Take MGS and GT sales figures.
Bulovski
There is no way they'll let it ship with a AO rating. Â +1. The worst thing about an AO rating is that it cannot be displayed openly in stores - it goes on the backshelves. It's the difference between an 18-rated movie and a pron movie. Karooo
Ao is good publicity for the game as well.. will sell like anything. It can backfire don't forget that guys ^^
Ne0
I think Sony will not publish the game if its rated AO, neither does nintendo or MS. Edited July 30, 2009 by ..Billy..
Bulovski
nope 'M' rating is fine. But 'AO' is very very negative publicity. Parents will not allow their kids to buy the game - simple. There goes a good chunk of sales immediately.
Karooo
hmm I don't think it will be Ao but mature. Honestly this game is Sony's trump card. Ao is only possible if stuff like hot coffee and extreme sexual stuff is there. Â I mean see the Saw game, I think the gore equals to god of war 3 but that's even more gross its performed on humans

Gautam
http://playstationlifestyle.net/2009/07/31...r-3-fact-sheet/god of war 3 fact sheet   The dynamic lighting solution employed in GOW III is only feasible through the computing power provided by the Cell SPUs. For example, using the High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDRL) technology, the camera – when using Krato’s sightline - will emulate the human retina, causing players to feel a sharp brightness when Kratos exits a dark area and enters a sunlit area, similar to how the human eye would need to adjust.  What a load of bullcrap. HDR has been done in countless number of games. I think Half Life 2 Lost coast had one of the first proper implementations of HDR and this was way back in 2005.
