EVDO from BSNL...

Hi guys,

Well, since most of you guys know, I live in Ulhasnagar City and the services from various ISPs over here are REALLY PATHETIC coz Sify and Tata provide their connection based on hub-to-hub architecture, so if one hub f**ks up, the whole network goes down , and trust me on this when I say, the hubs go down for a whole lot of reasons, for example, people f**king em up, power failures, modem failures, wire cuts, etc, etc :)

Anyways, so this narrows my options down to BSNL Dataone (which is AWESOME) and the EVDO wireless modem from BSNL. The only problem with BSNL Dataone is that there is a 6 to 8 month waiting list  I have already applied for this one and its gonna take a while.

So my other option (till Dataone arrives) is the EVDO wireless modem. So what I wanna ask is....is this any good ? Does anyone over here have this ? What kinda TRANSFER SPEEDS do you get ? When I mean transfer speeds, I mean ACTUAL DOWNLOAD SPEEDS that shows up on your monitor. I checked out the BSNL's office here, and they turned out to be really dumb when it came to answering my questions :P. They just said that I'll get good speeds and thats it :(

So...do any of you guys have this connection or know someone who has this connection ? Is it worth taking it ?

Thanx a lot in advance for all the help. :)

Check this link out.

If this is a data card the speeds will not be great - there will be fluctuations. I have used both Reliance and Airtel data cards and they are decent. There shouldn't be issues with browsing or downloading the Professor Layton puzzle at that speed I suppose.
