PS2 quality? Have you even played the game? It is beautiful, much more than any ps2 game and most ps3 games.

it has a great artstyle for sure but technically its weak, its not even pushing half the effects that a ND or R* game would be doing. and massive lol @ skyrim. both console versions looked dogshit.

But calling it ps2 quality is wrong. It looked beautiful and that is all i meant. Animated games tend to get over looked against realistic games most of the times.

Yes I played and recently too.

 

Cutscenes and artstyle are great. But quality of character models and backgrounds have very less details. Because its a nintendo DS game. Also it has a overworld map like ps1,ps 2 games.

What has that got to do with graphics? Just because it has an overworld map, that doesn't mean that the graphics are of ps2 quality. Game looks beautiful..

Nnk has nothing in ps3 scale. plain cell shaded character models. completely prerendered levels- you won't see many dynamic things happening when you are moving trough levels. Over world map. And for all battles you move into a separate battle screen, which again doesn't have much details.

 

It looks beautiful, yes. But so are ps2 animated games. Animated games on ps2 have a very good quality, they don't age much like realistic games. If you emulate games like Okami, dragon quest 8 on a good PC to 720p rez they will have same graphical details than ni no kuni.

 

Compare battle screen for nnk and dq8. They have almost same details, if you remaster dq8 itl look like nnk.

not every game has to have realistic gfx bs you know. there's much more beauty in this game than 90% of the cgi crap we have seen in years. these screens are nothing compared to whatthey look like in motion. Much better than those animated, cell-shaded, high-frame rate JRPGs out there.

Yeah cutscenes are made by studio ghibli. They are like Pixar in 2d animation. Every year a film from them nominates for Oscar.

They look exactly same in motion too actually because most of the things in the game are just there without any dynamic effects.

 

Okami HD ps2 game remaster, has lot of cool dynamic effects nnk can't even compare to. And journey is a class above, something a ps3 game should offer.

Halo 4 was a fantastic looking game and yes i think it looks better than UC3.

 

 

 

Best looking console game of lastgen was Witcher 2- Xbox 360 version

 

 

 

Keep in mind that W2 is not a linear scripted action game..W2 is a non linear semi-open world RPG game.

yeah im sure the ps3 wasnt powerful enough to run a prerendered cutscene which wasnt even running in realtime.

 

people need to stop making a fool of themselves every time. the same e3 trailer also shows a bunch of other scenes that was also changed (in this case upgraded ) in the final game. i wonder why they never get posted.

UC3 final version looked exactly like that..There was massive difference between E3 build and final build....

 

ND must stop showing pre-rendered footage of their games like Ubisoft...Show us actual gameplay footage not this pre-rendered BS...ND is doing this since UC1 days lol...That's why i wasn't impressed by UC4's E3 reveal footage coz i knew that actual gameplay will look nothing like E3 trailer and i was right

Lol what a stupid post. ND showed actual gameplay year before release and they always do release gameplay lot before release of game. What more they revel it in major events like E3. From Nepal gameplay in uc2 to uc4 psx gameplay. Always like a boss.

 

Name any developer who showcased a pre alpha gameplay for 15 min year before release date. And in an event as big as PSX.

Either way this is ND we are talking about. Talk about downgrades, linear level design, AI inferiority or what have you at the end of the day the game itself will be spectacular. Which is more than I can say for certain other crap that's all gfx and boring as f**k. A ND game with half the level of detail will still kick a majority of other AAA titles back to the dark ages because of sheer seat of the pants excitement.

 

And yet this game looks better in the demo game play than a lot of next gen final games.

 

Eventually haters gonna hate or in this case neighbours envy, owners pride.

Yup,ni no kuni was the most beautiful ps3 game for me as well. Excellent ost and cutscenes made it truly feel like another world experience altogether. Easily in my top 5 games ever.
