b!T Posted April 10, 2017 Report Share Posted April 10, 2017 I'm almost at the end of the third palace and damn it's even better than the last one. It's a good idea to do the palaces in one go right at the start, gives you many free days until the deadline. It's hard to pull away from the game while you're playing. These games have so much to do but somehow don't feel overbearing at all, definitely not like a western game and their bloated quest logs and maps filled with icons. I thought of the same logic of finishing a palace in one go but so far, I run out of SP so takes two or even three tries to finish it. Started the game in normal and found some sections hard and was thinking of changing it to easy but improved my strategy of persona usage which helped me beat it so far. Only the first palace can be tricky as your overall SP is on the lower side and you also don't have too many restoration items. Gets fairly manageable later on. I had to take multiple breaks in the first palace but the only breaks I took in the second one were the forced ones. I'm in the third palace right now and judging from how it's going I'm fairly close to the treasure right now. BTW "The Cake Knight Rises" made me laugh out loud... Tyler Posted April 11, 2017 Report Share Posted April 11, 2017 Done with the third palace. Loved it! Boss was really cool, and pretty easy once I swapped out Yusuke. His fire weakness is a problem in this fight. Had him in the party earlier and wiped because of all the "one mores". Also SP is not a problem anymore since I've raised Tae Takemi's confidant level to 7. She now gives a huge discount and I can buy the SP Adhesive 3 accessories from her for 50K each. Give one to each party member and you'll never run out of SP! Pro-tip: Studying in the diner during rainy days/evenings is very effective. Not only do you get a knowledge bonus but you can also order something off the menu and get a secondary stat bonus. Now that my knowledge is at Scholarly I can start spending time with Makoto. I am always broke and the max I have with me is 20-30k I have around 250,000 right now (just finished the third palace)... and this is after calling the maid service a number of times. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary except for fighting every single shadow in dungeons, selling all treasure and doing part-time jobs once in a while. I really love it that all 4 dungeons so far suits the bosses that reside in them perfectly. Also money was a problem for me but frequenting mementos evened it out a bit. Currently in July and some of the plot developments have been so good. Also the group really feels like real people (like previous games). It's one thing western games struggle so hard with. But these games achieve so much just with simple character models/animations and expressive portraits. Minor character personality spoiler... Ryuji is such an idiot, it's clear that he's super insecure about everything but why does he always have to talk loudly about their secret identities in public? Waifu spoiler... I was already torn between Makoto and Tae but then the game decides to introduce Hifumi. And then there's Kawakami as well. Why you do this game? Easy money... - Get a Persona with Pulinpa (Confusion) skill (Mandrake is an early Persona who has it) - Go to Mementos when there's a mission/boss available - Cast Pulinpa on the boss - Watch boss throw away money (around 10K yen) or an item every turn - Keep refreshing Pulinpa every time it wears off - Repeat until you get bored or run out of SP (unless you have an SP Adhesive) Made about 100K last night in under 15 minutes. Game has been out in Japan for ages now. Also the Persona team doesn't release patches very often. It's not even much of an exploit, having loads of money doesn't break the game or anything. Anyway, almost at the end of the fourth palace. As with the last two, did it in one go and having SP Adhesive 3s on everyone made it a cakewalk. The palace itself is amazing! The puzzles were great and I love how it fits into the story of the character it deals with. Will wrap it up soon so I can have around 20 days to do whatever I want... (hopefully). Spoilers up to mid-September... - First he has a habit of talking about their secret identities in public all the time. - He seems to be doing the whole Phantom Thieves stuff for fame and if it was up to him he'd readily announce their ids to the public. Such a huge liability. - He isn't the best party member in combat. - He pervs on the girls all the time. - He's a total dick to Mona when he's going through a tough phase (after recruiting Futaba). - He's a dick again when the group asks him to apologize to Mona. - And even after the whole thing is resolved he still acts like an a**hole. Got my a$$ kicked multiple times but finally done. 60 hours in and so much to go i suppose. OMG Ryuji is by far the worst person in the group! I like everyone but he's seriously getting annoying as hell. Spoilers up to mid-September... I liked him in the beginning but he turns for the worse every single day. Lost one day because of that... but eh... it's okay. Overall I liked the setting and some of the puzzles but it was too long. I'd put the earlier palaces above it in terms of fun factor. Also finally committed to Makoto . Such a sweet scene. The hardest decision in the game was lying to Tae about why I kept visiting her clinic. BTW there are some easy to miss Confidants in the game, here's a non-spoiler overview I thought I should share... The Politician/Speaker at Station Square - you need to work at Beef Bowl at least twice to start this one. Fortune Teller in the Red Light District - she can be missed if you're not paying attention. The gamer kid - you need to pursue the cheating gamer Mementos quest. Others are fairly easy to find as the game actively points you towards them several times.
