pbpoovannagamer
This has never happened untill today. Lot of noise i can hear inside cabinet and PC just goes off while i am gaming. Cannot be a temperature/overheating issue as when i place my palm on the cabinet its at room temperature only. PC switches off after about 15~20 min of gaming - was playing BF3 MP (all setting medium which i have ON since Launch day in NOV 2011) and the other time was Guild wars 2 (again settings were all off). PC is fine when i am not gaming. I suspect my Graphics card may be the cause- so i removed it and right now i am trying to install games that work with out a GPU an old copy of FIFA 09. will test and post back untill then any suggestions ? You cannot guess like that. Mine was cool outside months ago, but it was actually running above 90°C. Download CPUtemp and check the temperature. It's usually power/over-heat issue. EDIT: Completely clean your PC and try again. CPU heatsink must be full of dust/dirt.
ALPHA17
Following checks, Check the graphic card PCB for any signs of damage. Bloated capacitors, burn marks etc. Check the motherboard area for the same. Use a software like HWMonitor, Real Temp to measure the temperatures of your components. Even if you don't think your hardware is getting hot to touch from the exterior, the interior is a completely different story. Is your system dusty, clean it up and reseat cables. What SMPS are you on? How old? Do any of the cables look damaged? Hope this helps and you get back to gaming soon. Cheerio!
pbpoovannagamer
thanks for suggestion Joecool and Alpha FIFA 09 worked fine running only on cpu (no crash even after 45 min) and no GPU and cabinet was silent. Cleaned my cabinet a week back, no dust at all. when i removed the Gpu it was just warm may be 45~50 Deg - this was minutes after the crash while playing BF3 SMPS is coolermaster 700 watts 2.5 years old very sturdy and no problem. installed the GPU again and system has become very noisy i.e the gpu fan is struggling to keep turning and its making loud stuttering noise. played GUild wars 2 again no crash but loud noise that makes mescared if something serious will happen. no burn areas anywhere on Mobo or cpu. i dont remember if my GPU is still under warranty - Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 1 gb website says 2 years but i distictly remember the guy on SP road telling me 3 years when i bought it in may 2011. have to check up with shop tom maybe only the fan need replacement. EDIT: the CPUID HW Monitor shows my GPU fan speed fluctuating anywhere between 125 to 600 to 300 and back

Yes, I think your something is obstructing your GPU's fan or that it is just damaged. So try to replace it. All cards carry three years warranty, take your piece to the service centre and put it in for RMA.
