Problems connecting PS3 to net with hathway

^^I'm assuming Hathway uses the old way of installing login clients like Sify does.

If that's the case i was able to connect both the 360 and ps3 online through my wireless router (both wired and wireless worked).

But the catch was that i'd have to login on my pc and let both consoles connect.

Problem is with DNS, so will shifting to a router solve the problem? coz the router gives a new IP , the DNS remains the same, rite?

@mighty:

i dont know abt sify but for hathway u just have to tunr on u r modem and connection is established, it does not need a PPoe connection

Well in that case why not leave all settings at default on the router side and let it act as gateway for both pc and console?

Without adjusting anything on the modem just connecting it directly to the router copy paste all ISP given info into the router and try connecting from there.

That's how it worked for me with sify and that's how it's working currently for TATA.

ok, but neither of your IPs show as 10.1.xxx

btw i had 80710102 a lot too and one day it just magically disappeared....and although it works fine, i just prefer connecting it via ethernet.....try that if ur router and PS3 are close by...it should work fine

i tried doing it by directly connecting it with the ethernet...but it won't budge...

moreover since i've client(cyberoam client) installed on my pc...with which i login in to my PC....logging on to network on PS3 becomes an issue...PPoE is also not working over there..

Also the ip with which my router connects to the net is 10.1.xxx for sure...and the ip which u saw should not be correct because when u logon with a router..and DHCP is on u won't get the correct ip..i suppose(i say this because when i tried to detect my ip address thru certain site there also i saw some diff ip addresses....and there was a note that if u have a static ip and a router u won't get a roight ip displayed over there site)...

So after all the queries ..what i came down to is...private IP's are not supported by PSN's as netgear(support) team told me...

But i just wanted to make sure of this...because getting a public ip is a whole mess and costs around 5.5k...

Changing ISP is not possible in my area...

Please help

what is the address u use to access the router admin? and what is the IP address assigned to your PC by the router

if ur able to access the internet on your PC via the router, the PS3 should too.....just need to figure out how....although u may need to be logged in on the PC before u can access PSN

try turning DHCP off and then in the PS3 network settings assign a fixed IP address for the PS3 (different from your PC or any other device connected to the router)

make sure upnp is disabled on the PS3 and router

Thanks a lot Akshay... ..I was able to go online as u suggested  ....

Earlier i was not able to online via my PS3...both wired and wireless way...This is what i did..

I logged on to the net via my pc...and then took out the wire and plugged it to my PS3...did automatic settings...

voila....i was able to connect... :(

So it became for sure that private ISP thing was BUll%%it as suggested by sonebody...

So i called up router support(netgear) ppl and they helped me reset my router...and i was able to logon.. :punk:

All thanks to Akshay!!! cheers

Admin u may lock the thread... :hi2:
