Xbox 360 Emulation Is Coming Along Well, Says Dev Team

@Shadoken I am pretty sure. Last I checked PS2 discs worked just fine. You can even make your own backups without needing any fancy software or hardware.

I know all that. But what i am talking about is that i read somewhere that you can't emulate wii games on pc without actually having a wii because we can't have motion controls on pc without the console itself. I might have read something wrong then. :/ :P

Wii motion controls boiled down to two things in 90% of the games that didnt have classic controller support. Shake the controller or use it as a pointer. Shaking the controller is super easy to emulate. Just map the shake movement to the right thumbstick or something. Pointer is much harder to get done though. Even at the best of times its still very flaky unless you use a wiimote.

But still the best of the Wii Catalog can be easily played on the PC without the Wii mote.

Of course there are games where you will need one. I cant imagine how you will play Skyward Sword on it since that uses every motion control the Wii has. But for a large majority of games its very VERY playable. And for games that support the classic controller (like Monster Hunter) I would actually say play it on the PC rather than the Wii.

But if i was to buy the wiimote and connect it to the pc using a bluetooth dongle, would i be able to replicate the motion controls as they were on wii and play the games just like they were intended to without any issues?

If yes, then i can buy one. I intend to play a lot of wii games and this would be great.

You sure? ... Don't they have some security stuff on the disc so that only the console can read it?

Works fine with original PS2 discs. Those are not readable properly via native Windows explorer, but the emulator decodes and plays from those files just fine.

Not exactly. Its still not that simple IMO.

The bluetooth dongle will let you pair the Wiimote but you will still need the Wii Sensor bar to use most of the features of the Wiimote. You could also buy a Sensor Bar but you need to place that on top of the monitor (its kinda like the PSeye) and then you need to be a certain distance from it for it to work properly which isnt always an option when you are infront of the PC.

At some point its just easier and cheaper to just pick up a used Wii if you really want that.

But TBH the only MUST HAVE games I can think that actually use the Wiimote to the full are Metroid Prime 3 and Zelda SS. For Zelda TP you can just play the Gamecube version which works great with the 360 controller and is virtually the same game. Metroid 1 and 2 also work well with the 360 remote. SMG 1 and 2 are a bit hit and miss since some sections require the Wii mote stuff but I think (I only played it on the Wii) it should still be mostly playable. NSMB Wii and DKCR are totally fine.

I suspected this only. That is what i was wondering that how would the motion controls be replicated. Kind of a bummer as i wanted to play smg along with tp and ss.

Like I said, TP the gamecube version is identical to the Wii version in every way except the controls. I actually played TP on the Wii and I would still recommend the GC version, the motion controls just dont feel quite as right and the higher fidelity you can get on the emulator is worth it. Wind Waker is also fantastic on the emulator.

Speaking of emulation, PCSX2 1.2.0 released.

According to the team, one big change in this release is ‘the integration of the wide screen patches made by the community for the community numbering nearly 1200 games patched to support proper 16:9 aspect ratio.

Exactly how many are there.....that weren't on PC anyway?!?

Halo,gears,Forza?!?

What else?!

GTA5??!?

Yes. All those console exclusives like Vanquish, GTA V, WWE, DBZ games etc. But it is far away and will require a mega beast PC.
