PhantomShade
nice .... is it worth clearing the upper cathedral and the remaining optional bosses (logarius, and the ones in the upper cathedral) ? Yes to Logarius killing him unlocks a secret area and chance of getting 2 Badges that unlock sweet gear for purchase,Also for the 1st boss of UC drops +4 communion if killed, the 2nd boss drops a Great Isz Chalice,But is like the 2nd toughest boss of the game,Only do it if you want isz chalice which will carry over to NG+

PhantomShade
Its jumping quite often, i am not able to get rid of it all deaths because of landing on my head Not sure how to get rid of it For the normal single jump just quickstep backwards so when he lands his head is directly in front of you When it gets to 3rd stage and rips its arms off and starts jumping Stick to the Crotch and keep whacking there, the damage will be less, but you will be safe

Ne0
^^ thanks for those videos guys, but I still could not find answer to many of the things : 1. who are those aliens ? 2. Who are those kidnappers and why did they die all of a sudden when ROM was killed ? 3. How is the hunter being able to traverse between the dream and the real world ? 4. How are all those beasts able to come back to life once the hunter enters the dream ?
Shadoken
1. See vid I posted it should have it covered . 2 and 3 covered in that playlist as well. 4 just a game mechanic , been like that in all souls games.
Ne0
^^ Hmm , I couldn't find the video on aliens or the kidnappers .... but yeah, that's a lot of lore .... too bad they disguised and scattered it all up as letters and description on objects .... should've atleast explained a few things once in a while .... Eitherways, this is hands down the best game I've played this gen .... maybe one of the best games I've played so far .... the atmosphere and gameplay is just spot on, I'm a sucker for lore/story in my games, and I played the game to the end even when I didn't understand one bit of what was happening ! One of the few games out there that really focuses on the game play , skill rather than rely on cut scenes / cinematic etc Might go for another run in NG+, this time attempting the chalice dungeons and all the NPC's I missed out the first time around ! roun90
Regarding Point 1, those aliens are the great ones. The Great Ones are always there (they were perhaps there since before humanity as well), just that they could not be seen or perceived without insight. A dead great one or it's blood was later found in the Pthumerian labyrinth which led to people (the pthumerian civilization) gaining more insight to perceive the great ones. The blood was found to be a miracle cure and this led to the founding of the healing church. However, later the blood was also found to cause the plague of beasts. Hunters were formed to combat this. The people considered these great ones to be gods and tried to ascend to their level via various methods (For ex. The School of Mensis through their madness/insight and Mensis Cages, the Healing Church via the Holy Blood etc.) Some like Amygdala and Rom did come into contact with actual great ones and did ascend (Rom ascended by coming into contact with Kos for ex.). Others, who failed to ascend were cursed to be transformed to beasts (The clerics and higher members of the Healing church were said to have become the worst of the beasts) Regarding Point 2, we can assume that the kidnappers take people to the gaol for the paleblood ritual sacrifice. you should know that when Rom is alive and you first visit the Hypogean gaol, the Paleblood ritual is underway (In fact many people say that the soundtrack that plays when you first visit the area is the area "Hail the Nightmare" is the people singing for the ritual in Yahar'Gul village). Rom hides the ritual and the Blood Moon. Once Rom is killed and the Blood moon is revealed, the paleblood ritual is also complete. The beasts that arise from the ritual are those that kill the kidnappers and the people conducting the ritual. Their amalgamated corpses are used as the mobs i the zone or they are turned into screaming statues. Regarding Point 3, spoiler for first ending the hunter is able to traverse the dream and real world due to the blood given to him in the beginning of the game (I suspect this is the blood of the moon presence). At one point all the hunters were able to traverse the dream. However, they lost the ability once they had killed enough Great One kins or other mobs in the previous night of the hunts, they accepted Gherman's offer were beheaded by him. Thus they lost the ability to go to and from the Hunter's dream. You see graves of them in the dream, which might be the graves of the hunters since only the hunters, the doll and the Moon Presence which created the Hunter's dream had access to it. Basically, hunters were created by the Moon presence along with the Hunter's Dream to kill the other Great ones and the kin. In ending 1, you also become just like these other hunters. You wake up at dawn, but other night of the hunts will come and you have lost the ability to dream so you can be killed just like the other hunters. Point 4 is just a gameplay mechanic Please note that all of the above is just my opinion and what I understood from the game. This game is also one of my favourites. From atmosphere to music to lore to gameplay, all was superb. Edited July 5, 2015 by roun90
