Regarding Point 1,

those aliens are the great ones. The Great Ones are always there (they were perhaps there since before humanity as well), just that they could not be seen or perceived without insight. A dead great one or it's blood was later found in the Pthumerian labyrinth which led to people (the pthumerian civilization) gaining more insight to perceive the great ones. The blood was found to be a miracle cure and this led to the founding of the healing church. However, later the blood was also found to cause the plague of beasts. Hunters were formed to combat this. The people considered these great ones to be gods and tried to ascend to their level via various methods (For ex. The School of Mensis through their madness/insight and Mensis Cages, the Healing Church via the Holy Blood etc.) Some like Amygdala and Rom did come into contact with actual great ones and did ascend (Rom ascended by coming into contact with Kos for ex.). Others, who failed to ascend were cursed to be transformed to beasts (The clerics and higher members of the Healing church were said to have become the worst of the beasts)

Regarding Point 2,

we can assume that the kidnappers take people to the gaol for the paleblood ritual sacrifice. you should know that when Rom is alive and you first visit the Hypogean gaol, the Paleblood ritual is underway (In fact many people say that the soundtrack that plays when you first visit the area is the area "Hail the Nightmare" is the people singing for the ritual in Yahar'Gul village). Rom hides the ritual and the Blood Moon. Once Rom is killed and the Blood moon is revealed, the paleblood ritual is also complete. The beasts that arise from the ritual are those that kill the kidnappers and the people conducting the ritual. Their amalgamated corpses are used as the mobs i the zone or they are turned into screaming statues.

Regarding Point 3, spoiler for first ending

the hunter is able to traverse the dream and real world due to the blood given to him in the beginning of the game (I suspect this is the blood of the moon presence). At one point all the hunters were able to traverse the dream. However, they lost the ability once they had killed enough Great One kins or other mobs in the previous night of the hunts, they accepted Gherman's offer were beheaded by him. Thus they lost the ability to go to and from the Hunter's dream. You see graves of them in the dream, which might be the graves of the hunters since only the hunters, the doll and the Moon Presence which created the Hunter's dream had access to it. Basically, hunters were created by the Moon presence along with the Hunter's Dream to kill the other Great ones and the kin. In ending 1, you also become just like these other hunters. You wake up at dawn, but other night of the hunts will come and you have lost the ability to dream so you can be killed just like the other hunters.

Point 4 is just a gameplay mechanic

Please note that all of the above is just my opinion and what I understood from the game.

This game is also one of my favourites. From atmosphere to music to lore to gameplay, all was superb.

Also about point 1

Some of them are fake ones made by impostor Iosefka. The ones you find in her clinic. They dont fight you too. See ending of video I posted.

Thanks guys, that explains a lot.... just one more q, why is

gehrman trying to end the nightmare when he's just a slave to one of the great ones ?

And as per the ending, the hunter ends up as one of the great ones right ?

Spoilers for Endings 2 and 3

Gherman is a slave to only 1 Great one, i.e. the Moon Presence. The Moon Presence is trying to kill the other great ones and end the nightmare. Therefore, Gherman also tries to do this. The ending you are referring to is where you go directly against the Moon Presence. Therefore, first Gherman tries to kill you. However, when he fails, the Moon Presence tries to make you into the next Gherman, i.e. watcher over the other hunters in dreams. It succeeds in Ending 2 where you become exactly like Gherman (bound in a wheelchair and watching over the other hunters in other night of the hunts). Youtube all endings if you haven't seen it since it makes things quite clear.

In Ending 3 however, you have taken so many 1/3 Umbilical chords that you yourself have an entire Great One Umbilical cord in you. Thus, you are actually ready to ascend to a great one's level. Therefore, when the Moon Presence tries to make you it's slave, you are able to repel it. When you kill the Moon presence, you have basically ascended to an infant Great One just like Mergo.

Basically, Ending 3 is where you have succeeded where all others including the School of Mensis, the Healing Church, Wilhelm etc. have failed and have become a true Great One. To do this, you had to rebel against the Moon Presence and Gherman and thus both were killed.

Wait what??

Level cap is going away this patch?

-If a player uses the Beckoning Bell or Small Resonant Bell while using a password, it will be clearly indicated that a password is in use.
-If the level difference between the host and the guest when matched using a password is large, the guest's stats will be adjusted to match the host's.
-Other bug fixes and matching improvements.

It has been like that from quite some time. This patch will adjust stats of the guest. Only for password based beckoning.

For non-password, the cap still exists.

Wtf  , all this while I thought cap existed for it as well.

F**k this game !!

Started it this weekend and all I can think about now in office is how many farming runs to do before I bend over for Gascoigne again :wallbash:

There's no point in farming, unless you do it for acquiring/using better weapons....

Learn dodging, parrying.... this is more of a skill based game, not a JRPG to farm out and defeat bosses !

Want to farm mostly to level up my Health & Endurance a bit more before I face Father G again, just so I can hang around a tad bit longer before going down. Not expecting the fight to get easy or anything :P

As for dodging, parrying... yeah, trying to get better at it. Unfortunately, I tend to dodge in wrong directions a lot and get stuck at trees, tombstones etc. :fear:

Do you use R3 lockon button? It will really help you in the fight to dodge. It will also ensure that your attacks will always hit. Lock on when you are ready to fight and if you want to run then toggle the lock on off. It will make this fight more manageable. Also if you have it, use the music box. This will stun the boss. But you need to time it properly. Also be sure to only use it when you really need it (only 1-2 times the entire fight) or it will make things more tough for you.

Heck yes !!

This I don't have. Will try to manage without, if possible. Else will have to get it.

Thanks for the tips :)

Try to back step and get behind bosses, that's like the best /easiest thing to learn.... half your fights would be easier that way ! As far as health goes, remember that the enemies in the next area scale based on whatever is your current level.... so there are enemies/bosses that can pretty much one shot you no matter what your health is ! High endurance is useful only in the latter half of the game, that too if you are using too many r2 attacks with a str based weapon.... and poison resistance ! Edited by Ne0

Just get the Music Box,And Father G will bend over for YOU

Play it just when he turns into werewolf and spam molotovs.

If you have Axe switch to 2H mode for the whole fight,If saw blade the 1H mode, and for cane both the Cane/Whip forms will do

also parry generously

Don't worry. This game was built on you dying. By the time you finish this boss and the next optional boss (esp. the optional one, that was horrendous), you will feel very much at ease in the game. Also, grinding actually does help a lot. Enemies damage in next area will scale to your health, but for example,if you have a lot of stamina, you will also be able to far better control your character (keep on dodging, attacking continuously etc.). Also, there are no mobs that one shot you (they just come close) outside of very specific situations. The game is very fair. Later on you will find the game actually very easy outside of some bosses. The best part is which boss you find hard or easy is up to you. Some bosses which this board found hard, I killed on my first try and vice versa. The experience is always only yours. This is one of the truly beautiful parts of the game, I feel.
