Somebody
FIA to sue over breakaway attempt - BBC Sport Defiant FIA boss Max Mosley remains convinced the row can be resolved Formula 1's governing body, the FIA, says it will begin legal proceedings over plans to set up a rival world championship next year. The F1 Teams Association (Fota) said on Thursday that eight of its major teams were planning to set up a rival championship for the 2010 season. But FIA lawyers say the actions of Fota as a whole and Ferrari, in particular, amount to breaches of law. They say they will issue legal proceedings without delay. The statement added: "The actions of Fota as a whole, and Ferrari in particular, amount to serious violations of law including wilful interference with contractual relations, direct breaches of Ferrari's legal obligations and a grave violation of competition law. "Preparations for the 2010 FIA Formula 1 World Championship continue but publication of the final 2010 entry list will be put on hold while the FIA asserts its legal rights." Delaying the publication of the entry list gives the parties room for manoeuvre as they search for a compromise over the issue. The row centres on plans by world motorsport boss Max Mosley to introduce budget cap proposals. Mosley wants to introduce a voluntary £40m budget cap for teams to curtail a "financial arms race" in F1. Fota say they, too, are committed to cutting costs, but refused to agree to his conditions. It prompted championship leader Brawn GP, Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Toyota, BMW Sauber, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso to take their drastic action. Brawn GP team owner Ross Brawn said that at the moment the relationship between the teams and the FIA was 'difficult'. "The teams' ambition is not to take over F1, but they have a massive investment in it," he said. "They want their investment protected." Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren team boss added: "Everyone wants to reduce costs. Fota's position isn't that we don't want to cut costs, we do. "Ultimately, we are very close in many things. And that is perhaps one of the sad things. "If you look at Fota's position and the FIA, there are a lot of common views, and yet for whatever reasons - maybe personal relationships - we weren't able to come to an arrangement. Ecclestone brushes off questions Asked if Mosley going would solve the problem, Brawn said: "It's in no way a condition of the conditional entry the Fota teams have made. "It's not something the Fota teams are pushing for or asking for. It has not entered discussions." However, Mosley told the BBC that he was confident there would be one Formula 1 world championship next season. "We had to take legal proceedings. That's all part of the process, but the moment they come to their senses that will all stop," he said. "This is posturing and posing and it will stop before the start of 2010 and the first race of next season in Melbourne and settle down. "They can't get the backing they need and will come back." Brawn, Whitmarsh and Red Bull's Christian Horner have refused to comment on the FIA's legal threat saying they had only just been informed of it and had not seen the details. Joy
Max Moseley , for the sake of including some new teams he has destroyed the awesomeness of Formula 1. They could have reduced costs little by little yearly , straight away giving teams a order to get everything inside 40m$ budget is obviously was not gonna suit the big teams who have invested billions of dollars over the last decade to set up their F1 teams. F1 will die a painfull death with 8 out of the 10 teams leaving at the end of the season. Still glad that FOTA with a new championship , would be cool , no more rules applied from FIA anymore , so teams can experiment with their design and aerodynamics even more and bring back the crazy days of late 80's where every teams F1 cars were a mystery. Joy
Great win for Vettle today , he dominated the whole race from the start to finish as well as got fastest lap and P1 yesterday.Perfect weekend for him.All the making of becoming the Next German Schumacher. Red Bull Racing back on top form with 1-2 finish , Webber also drove a great race , unlike Vettle he had to battle with Barrichelo most of the race who grabbed the final podium spot. Brawn's struggled this week with with pace compared to RBR cars. Button finished 6th just behind Massa in 4th and Rosberg in 5th. Overall a disappointing home race for the British drivers.Hamilton in his silver arrows was fighting with his car throught the race , just to keep the car it on track , still had many moments with the Renault cars. Red Bull's aerodynamics deigned by Adrian Newey is getting better and better every race , thier newly designed front wing has surely upped their pace considerably and they could now compete for race victories regularly with Brawn's.. Ferrari had a hit and mis kinda race again , Massa drove fantastically and got 4th place , Raikonnen although had a great start in the race couldn't capitalize and finished 8th scoring only 1 championship point. Still the Ferrari renaissance is there , but not enough pace to win races. Its amazing how close F1 is this season , P1 to P10 are all separated by under a sec. Next race is the German GP at the Hockenheim circuit , Sebastian Vettle should be the ood's on favorite to win his home race , although I expect a strong fightback from Brawn's. MarketTantrik
The Brawn cars' superior traction should see them through to win at Hockenheim. The track is a snorefest in any case.

MarketTantrik
And for the FIA TWG's recommendations on the cars' design, supposedly to improve overtaking, Alonso couldn't get past Nick Heidfeld for 20 laps even though Nick was driving with a broken front wing and was 2.5 seconds a lap slower. Same situation with Hamilton and Kubica, Webber and Barrichello and Button and Rosberg. Stupid, expensive and incredibly arrogant.
