Agent 47
Second Battlefield Hardline Beta coming in Autumn The news comes via Visceral chief Steve Papoutsis on the Battlefield blog where he confirmed the second beta will hit PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. The first beta, which recently drew to a close, was done in a bid to gather early information about the game he explained, saying "We're listening to it, we're acting on it and it's going to help make Hardline a better game when we launch in October" News about what to expect from single-player is coming next month, though thanks to a number of leaks we already know it'll be designed around episode-like missions replete with cliffhangers. For anyone who played the first beta and was worried the content was a little sparse, Papoutsis was quick to assert that it only offered a glimpse at what the final title. "We have plenty of new modes in the game that really play off the cop and criminal theme, as well as the return of fan favourites," he said. "The variety in maps is also something that Battlefield fans have never experienced before, from subterranean grow labs to the streets of Miami, complete with all the vibe and flavour that city has to offer." Heaven Angel
Delayed to early 2015.Today we are announcing that Battlefield Hardline will launch in early 2015. Obviously, this is big news, so I’d like to address why we’re making this change. Back at E3, we launched a beta for Hardline — we wanted to not only show you the game, but to let you play it for yourselves. Millions of you jumped in and had a great time. As a result, the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game. We’ve been pouring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game and sharing it directly with you. This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months. We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans. Here are a few of the things the new timing will allow us to accomplish:1. Multiplayer Innovation: Coming out of our E3 beta, internal focus tests, and work with our community, we have received a lot of great Multiplayer thinking. We’re going to be adding some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield Multiplayer experience.2. Single Player Story Depth: In order to ensure our Single Player experience delivers on player expectations, we’re spending more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper “crime revenge” story experience.3. Stability: This has been a focus for our team since day one and we’re going to be using the extra time to continue to optimize the game for a stable launch. We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, are continuing to learn from our Community Test Environment and will learn more from another Hardline beta. More time allows us to surface issues that the team can attempt to fix prior to launch. We are doing all of this for one reason. Because we want Battlefield Hardline to be the best game it can be, and so that we can create the best environment for a smooth launch for our players. We will give you updates on our progress and we’ll regularly share updates along the way via Battlefield.com/Hardline as well as the Battlefield social channels. In addition to the ongoing development of Hardline, it’s important to note that the DICE teams continue to drive Battlefield 4. We continue to explore new opportunities for improvements and we are still releasing new content, including “Dragon’s Teeth,” the fourth expansion pack that launches worldwide on July 29, and “Final Stand” coming later this year. We remain committed to giving you the best BF4 experience possible.Karl Magnus TroedssonDICE VP & Group GM Nice.

piper
Well, they must've been told to add Conquest and or large vehicle based maps, as part of the feedback. For me, that is what defines a Battlefield game. No matter how good the weapons are, we need vehicles (tanks, LAVs) and plenty of space for them to move around. Sach4life
That is actually a good thing for the game and the battlefield brand.

piper
There seems to be an issue updating the OP, but posting it here for impressions. Cops vs. Criminals, Battlefield style. A security truck loaded with cash lays abandoned in a parking garage, and you only have seconds to cram as much cash as possible into your backpack before the cops arrive. Stray bills flutter behind you as you make a mad dash for the elevators. When you get to the roof a teammate jumps on the zipline, but you choose a more direct route and swan-dive over the edge of the building. By the time your chute deploys, bullets are whizzing by far too close for comfort, and the moment you hit the pavement it’s a straight-out sprint to the getaway vehicle. And that’s when the building starts to crumble. This is just a taste of Battlefield Hardline. It’s also a fantastic example of why this game needs to be on your radar. Battlefield Hardline is a collaboration of two highly regarded game studios at EA that builds on the incredible visual and gameplay technology introduced in Battlefield 4, and introduces a new storyline that feels like a primetime crime drama. The levels twist through the detective story like episodes of a TV show, and highpoints of the story will play out in huge memorable gameplay moments. Epic car chases and intense gunfights? Yes please. On the one hand, you’ve got a multiplayer experience that’s expected from a Battlefield game. Elements like destructible environments, modern-day weaponry, high-performance vehicles and dozens of players all over the world fighting in the urban streets of the US, now with new additions like high-tech gadgets to spice up the action. And on the other, you have the powerful storytelling from the writers and game designers behind the incredible Dead Space trilogy. This is one crime drama that you won’t be able to stop playing until the climactic conclusion. BATTLEFIELD MULTIPLAYER A THRILLING NEW BATTLEFIELD PLAYGROUND. In multiplayer, the world is simple. You're on one side of the law or the other -- a baton or bat, stun gun or rifle, armored police truck or transport vehicle. But either way, teamwork is going to be essential if you're going to want to pull off that perfect heist or big time bust in this new take on Battlefield multiplayer. VISCERAL SINGLEPLAYER STRAIGHT TV CRIME DRAMA.Right and wrong isn't always that clear. With a fresh new style inspired by from the most popular crime dramas seen on television today, Battlefield Hardline's gritty story will take you through so many twists and turns, you won't be able to wait until the next episode. DOWNTOWN DESTRUCTION IT'S A TURF WARRain havoc! The world may be modern and sexy, but like the saying goes, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Blow open bank vaults, destroy car dealerships, shoot out an underground grow lab -- whatever it takes to getaway from the cops or to make that bust. GADGETS & GUNS SPORT YOUR NEW PIECEIn today's war, the toys are almost as important as your crew. Criminals are armed with sawed-off shotguns, ziplines and grappling hooks, while the cops have tasers, tear gas and riot shields. VEHICULAR MAYHEM TAKE TO THE STREETS… AND THE SKYLINEIs it rides you like? Don't worry, we got you covered. You can hop in everything from powerful muscle cars, sleek bikes or even give your whole crew a lift in transport or armored trucks. And don't worry, this is still Battlefield, you'll have plenty of machines to fly. Heaven Angel
Single-player plot in Battlefield Hardline revolves around a framed cop The single-player storyline in Battlefield Hardline will revolve around a framed police officer named Nick who is out to clear his name. Aren’t they all? Speaking during a panel at San Diego Comic Con, the game’s creative director Ian Milham said Nick was framed when a drug bust in meth country didn’t go down as planned. Like many a cop in movies who are framed, Nick will need to go undercover, fit in with the criminal underground and you can figure out the rest. The neat twist though, is that the player will be able to see both sides of the coin play out dynamically. Battlefield Hardline was recently delayed into 2015, which Milham said during the panel was “a real blessing, because over time, games are living longer and you only get one chance to come out.” The single-player campaign will star actors Eugene Byrd (Bones, 8 Mile) and Kelly Hu (the Scorpion King). Sons of Anarchy actor Benito Martinez and The Shield’s Mark Rolston will also star. Nashville and Justified writer and producer Wendy Calhoun, the writer and producer of Justified, as signed on as a narrative consultant, and performance director for Justified, Bill Johnson, will be part of the project as well.
