And when that favourite player retires, you just go ahead and choose another one? My point of view is : Teams last forever, if they perform poorly for a while, they shall one day have comeback stories. Individuals have careers that inevitably end. At a club level, Liverpool is my team, irrespective of Gerrard, or Owen, or Fowler. But at a national level I don't think it works that way. Coverage on international teams is consistent only once in two years (world cup and euros). So how do you say that you support a certain team then? What's your favorite team and why? It is sad that international tournaments are rather rare. Even cricket seems eventually headed that way. I wouldn't be too worried if I was the Italian defence. Just like the Engiand should be happy to see Balotelli in the starting XI. I think what can hurt Italy is pace.
