  • Dark Souls II
  • Wolfenstein The New Order (maybe only as a shooter)
  • Lords of the Fallen (depending on how it is on release)
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (because, why the f**k not)
  • Farcry 4
  • Assassin's Creed UNITY

There are plenty of contenders, let the entire release year be out at-least before bringing up this discussion.

Shadow of Mordor(The most fun looking game)

 

Cautiously optimistic about this one. I think this is the first time Monolith is doing an RPG.

Agreed. The Stick of Truth is easily the best game of this year.

 

 

What will be the GOTY contender this year?!

Dark Souls 2 was utter shite. Good as a standalone game but massively disappointing as a sequel.

 

And you included the next COD and tripe like shadows of mordor (looks lame as hell) and did not include the best shooter in recent memory (titanfall). That is weak dude.

 

I have not played all the games in the list, it was a short opinion the counter-point that there are many games in the running for GoTY.

 

Dark Souls II I don't mind deferring since you have experience with it and I have not played any Souls title.

 

Also, best shooter is rather subjective, no one is playing TITANFALL after a couple of weeks simply due to the paucity of content. Does not bode well for something you champion as the best shooter in recent memory. I very clearly wrote that CoD is in the running because it is always and I just like to give games a general benefit of doubt unless I have seen footage / played said game to dislike it intently.

Oh! I did play the BETA, gave a lot of keys around too.

 

Never felt like it was worth the money or time. And I feel vindicated now.

It is an opinion, most RPG regulars are still sceptic about it.

 

Just like I put forth Dark Souls II as a GoTY but Waveking thinks it is not worth it and I defer to him because he has played all the prior Souls titles.

Yes, I agree on the lack of content. But an MP shooter doesn't really need tons of content. I have spent hundreds of hours in 3-4 maps on CS, Blop2, Quake 3 arena etc. and fun trumps everything else. If you keep the amount of content as a paramter for the "best shooter" prize than buggy games like BF4 will win easily lol. Titanfall does things which no other shooter in recent memoory has dared to do.

 

And your opinion on titanfall doesn't really count simply because you haven't played it. Nice to see you commenting on whether it deserves a place in the best shooter category even without playing the game lol.

I think its good for me that I haven't had my hands burned fully with DA:II and Origins is still very fresh in my mind.

 

I'm not much into souls series so I'll leave that to the guys who know better :P Though heard very different opinions about it

Voted for FH2 because its going to cost me almost 50k, and there is a much cheaper option (around 3k), and I probably won't mind going for former. Yeah its was that impressive.

 

Plus the locations are all inspired from my favorite TV show of all time, Top Gear <3

How are those two groups of games decided?

^which is why the curiosity. I guess he should scrap 1 entry from each set and include the entry "the one I voted for in the other set" instead.
