Launching on July 24th is our biggest update so far, No Man's Sky NEXT, bringing a full multiplayer experience to No Man's Sky for the first time.

Embark on an epic voyage to the center of a boundless universe. Entire galaxies lay waiting to be discovered. Be the first to land on beautiful, unknown planets teeming with life. Survive hazardous environments, where alien civilizations seek their fortune and outlaws take it by force.

No Man’s Sky is an epic science fiction adventure set across an infinite universe, in which every star is the light of a distant sun, orbited by planets filled with life – each yours to visit. Explore never before seen worlds and trade, fight and survive on a galactic scale.

Multiplayer

  • Team up a small team of friends and explore the universe together, or be joined by random travellers.
  • You can help friends to stay alive, or prey on others to survive.
  • Tiny shelters or complex colonies that you build as a team are shared for all players.
  • Fight as a pirate or a wingman in epic space battles with friends and enemies.
  • Race exocraft across weird alien terrains, creating race tracks and trails to share online.
  • Character customisation allows you to personalise your appearance.

Visual Overhaul

  • The game is fully playable in third or first person, both on-foot and in ship.
  • Planetary rings and improved space visuals make space more beautiful than ever.
  • Dramatically improved planetary terrain generation, ground textures, water and clouds bring the environment to life.
  • Significantly more detail added to ships, NPCs and buildings.

Unlimited Base Building

  • Bases can now be built anywhere on any planet.
  • Dramatically increased base building complexity and size limits.
  • Hundreds of new base parts.
  • Own multiple bases.

Command Freighters

  • Assemble and upgrade a fleet of frigates and command them from the bridge of your freighter.
  • Send your fleet out to into the universe, or deploy them to help you as you explore a specific system.
  • Improved freighter base building allows a truly custom capital ship.
  • Invite your friends aboard and take on challenging multiplayer missions from the Galactic Commision Station on your bridge.

You know when the game was announced I was really really really excited for it. But then the game was released and... well we all know the story. Thank God I did not buy the game at that time, so my question now ' Is it worth buying?'

How good is this game now ? Is it fun to just hop on to it for sometime when you're bored? Thinking of getting it since its on sale.

I played it for few mins but I found Deep Rock Galactic miles ahead. Devs are updating the game regularly and it has coop. Playerbase is better as well.

Fun being subjective, this is a casual survival/building game with a series of simple quests to guide you through the world (universe). The draw of the game is the fact that it is set in a procedurally generated universe. You can get in your ship and go exploring different planets but also keep track of resources needed for that travel. I don't play coop so can't say how good that is, but it's supposed to be really fun going questing and dog fighting with a group.

How easy is it to find resources in this game? I got frustrated with Subnautica because I couldn't find materials and the endless loop of going to search and then going back to base to refill on health/water/etc got really tiring

It's relatively easy but there is no end goal for which you are farming. Farming is for whatever you feel like doing next, not for surviving. Surviving is pretty easy in the normal mode. If you are looking for mysteries in terms of story to push you forward then this won't be the game. It is more about exploration and making money to get the next upgrade to be able to explore more.

But that's the goal of these games.

I find NMS very shallow and get bored fast in long session. No matter how much stuff they add, the gameplay and the loop is bad same since the beginning. It is okay-ish if you are looking for a short relaxing session and wander around.

If you have GamePass you can try Astroneer.
